Rose awoke the next morning, her face wet from crying throughout the night. She felt like she had barely slept, even though she had gone to bed before she normally did.
She got up and went to the bathroom. She splashed water on her face to wake herself up and to wash away the tear tracks on her cheeks. She wiped the water away on a washcloth and went to change clothes. She slipped a lacy shirt over head and put on some blue jeans. Then, she went downstairs for breakfast.
It was only 8:30am, so her parents and Hugo were probably still asleep. She poured some apple juice into a glass and made some eggs. She ate them slowly and by the time she finished, her mum was the only one who had gotten up and came downstairs.
"Rosie?" Hermione said to her daughter suddenly.
"Hmm?" Rose replied, looking up from The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
"Are you okay?" Hermione asked, putting her hand on Rose's.
Rose paused. She didn't know whether or not to tell her about Scorpius. She felt she couldn't hold it in anymore.
"I had a boyfriend. It was Scorpius Malfoy. I know you still aren't on the best terms with the Malfoy's, but I really liked him. Then, I found out he was keeping secrets from me, so we broke up," Rose explained quickly, hardly stopping to take a breath.
"Oh, Rosie. I don't care about you dating a Malfoy. If you like him and he likes you and he's good to you, I don't care who they are. I'm so sorry about the breakup. What did he keep from you?" Hermione said soothingly.
"He didn't tell me that he was communicating with another girl that he's known since he was five. They used to date, and I mean, who's to say they they aren't still dating?" Rose said exasperatedly.
"Did you try to talk to him and see if maybe it was just a misunderstanding?" Hermione asked.
Rose thought about it.
"We talked, but when he tried to explain himself, I wouldn't let him," Rose admitted.
Rose stood up quickly. Hermione understood immediately.
"Go. Go talk to him and work it out," Hermione said encouragingly.
Rose smiled and kissed her mum's cheek before running out of the kitchen and into the living room. She grabbed her shoes and shoved them on her feet. She ran out the door and down the road. She reached the end of her road and Apparated to Malfoy Manor. She arrived on the doorstep and she used the brass knocker to knock on the door.
A kind looking woman with long, dark hair answered the door.
"Hello. Can I help you?" the woman asked.
"I'm Rose Granger-Weasley, ma'am. I need to speak to Scorpius, please," Rose replied.
"Say no more. I'm his mother, Astoria. He's told me everything that's happened. He was going to come visit you first, actually," Astoria said with a small smile.
Rose blushed a little and followed Astoria through the house. She led her up a flight of stairs. She approached the first door on the right and knocked three times.
"Who's there?" Scorpius's voice rang out from inside the room.
"Your mum. You have a visitor," Astoria called through the door.
"Unless it's Rose, I don't want to see them," Scorpius replied stubbornly.
"Come see for yourself, then," Astoria replied.
Scorpius opened the door a crack and peeked one eye out. His one gray eye skimmed over his mother before moving over and focusing on Rose. Scorpius threw open the door to reveal himself. He ran at Rose and hugged her.
"I didn't think you'd come," he whispered.
"Well, surprise," Rose whispered back.
Scorpius released Rose and he motioned for her to follow him into his room.
"I'll give you two some time alone," Astoria whispered to Rose as she passed.
Rose smiled and nodded before going into Scorpius's room and shutting the door behind her.
"I missed you," Rose and Scorpius said simultaneously.
"I couldn't stay away. I cried myself to sleep last night, thinking about what we had before-well, you know," Rose explained.
"My heart kept aching for you. It was like I was lost without you in my life. Like a fish out of water, as the Muggles say," Scorpius remarked.
Rose giggled.
"Did you remember that just for me?" Rose asked.
Scorpius blushed and nodded.
"I knew there was a reason I loved you," Rose teased.
"Rose, I'm sorry about not telling you about Val. Honestly, she's just a friend. I send her letters sometimes, just being friendly. She's dating someone anyhow," Scorpius explained.
"I'm sorry I didn't let you explain yourself. That was rude of me. I know you love me and that you would never betray me or use me," Rose replied.
Scorpius nodded.
"I would never use you or betray you," Scorpius agreed.
Rose smiled and sat down on the bed beside Scorpius. She leaned in and kissed his lips passionately. He kissed back and they stayed that way for what seemed like hours. They finally broke apart and just stared into each other's eyes.
"I love you," they both said.
They laughed and kissed again. They stood up and linked hands. They walked downstairs to the sitting room where Scorpius's mum and dad sat.
"Made up, have we?" Astoria questioned.
"Yes, mum," Scorpius replied.
"What? Made up? Why are you holding hands with a Granger-Weasley, Scorpius?" Draco Malfoy asked suspiciously.
"Draco, dear, our Scor is dating this lovely young lady. Her name is Rose and they love one another. They had a fight and Scorpius was heartbroken. Rose came here to talk it out and apologize," Astoria explained softly to her husband.
"Ah, well, I can't fight love, I guess. She can't be so bad. Granger and Weasley turned out all right, I suppose," Draco said, looking Rose up and down as though sizing her up.
Rose felt slightly uncomfortable.
"You two go on. Go talk to Rose's parents," Astoria said, shooing them out the front door.
Rose waved goodbye before Astoria shut the door behind them.
"Just a warning: my father still doesn't quite trust the Malfoy folk, so tread carefully around him," Rose warned Scorpius.
He nodded and tried to act confident.
It didn't work.---
I'm so glad that I was able to get Rose and Scorpius back together in this chapter! They aren't the same when they're apart!
