Hugo POV
I woke up before Mackenzie as usual. I'm pretty sure she only did that so that I would make her breakfast.
I went downstairs and started to scramble eggs. While I fixed the eggs, I thought about the fight Mackenzie and I had when Rose was in the hospital. I thought about the time she came to my house for Christmas to surprise me. I thought about her mum dating my dad and I cringed. The idea of that ever happening was horrid.
And then I think of her again. Mackenzie. The way her blonde hair flows down her back. The way it swishes back and forth when she walks. I think of how her eyes fill with tears when she mentions her mother. Killed when she was just a baby.
I turn my attention back to the eggs on the stovetop. They have finished cooking, so I grab plates from the cabinet and scoop the eggs onto the plates. I take the plates and carry them up to mine and Mackenzie's room. She stirs when I push open the door. I take the eggs and set them on her nightstand. She sits up and rubs her eyes with her fingers.
"Hu-Hu?" she says.
"I made you eggs, Mack-Mack," I tell her softly.
"Aw, how sweet of you, Hu-Hu," Mackenzie coos.
I smile and sit down on the bed to eat my eggs. She sits up and grabs hers.

After we finish eating, we get dressed.
"What do you want to do today, Hu-Hu?" Mackenzie asked as she pulled on a pair of skinny jeans.
"I have something in mind," I said slyly.
"Okay..." Mackenzie said with a smile.
After we got dressed, we went downstairs and out into the front yard. We grasped hands and Apparated to a small cottage in the woods.
The cottage belonged to my dad. He bought it a long time ago, but never ended up using it for much of anything. I asked him if I could use it today to propose to Mackenzie, and he said I could.
"Where are we?" Mackenzie asked, looking around curiously.
"This is my dad's property. I thought I'd bring you here and show you around a bit," I told her.
She nodded.
"Ooh, can we go see what's in that cute little cottage?" she asked excitedly.
"Yeah, but let's take a walk around the rest of the property first, okay?" I said.
She nodded and we walked around the small lot together. We were walking in a small circle that would take us over to the cottage.
"This is lovely, Hu-Hu," Mackenzie told me.
"I know. My dad bought this before I was born, but he never really used it," I explained.
She nodded. We walked the rest of the way in silence, mostly just enjoying the other's company.
We reached the cottage and I turned the brass knob. The wooden door swung open to admit us. Mackenzie walked in ahead of me and I walked in after and shut the door behind me.
"What's this?" Mackenzie said, walking up to one of the many pictures plastered on the walls.
It was a picture of the two of us at my house, sitting in the grass, laughing our heads off. My mum had wanted to take a cute picture of the two of us, but she was busy, so she told my dad to take a picture of us sitting in the grass. He make the mistake of telling us a really funny joke before he took the picture and we couldn't stop laughing.
I smiled to myself as I watched Mackenzie looking at the still image.
"Wait, it's not moving," Mackenzie said with a frown.
"Yeah. I got my dad to make a copy of it so it wouldn't move. I thought it'd be cool for them to be still images," I told her.
She smiled.
"I love it," she said.
She moved down and looked at another still picture. This one was a picture of me and Mackenzie kissing. Mackenzie smiled before moving to the next picture.
The next one was a picture of me holding Mackenzie up in the air.
Mackenzie looked at this one for a long time before turning around to face me, tears in her eyes.
"Did you do this all for me?" she asked tearfully.
I nodded and before I knew it, Mackenzie had ran at me and hugged me, almost knocking me over.
"Why?" she asked when she released me.
"I did this to remind you of all the wonderful memories we've had together. You are honestly the best thing that ever happened to me and I don't know what I'd do without you. I love you very much. So, Mackenzie Anne Thomas, will you marry me?" I asked, getting down on one knee in front of her and pulling out the ring box.
She gasped before nodded vigorously. I smiled and slipped the diamond ring onto her left ring finger. She hugged me tightly before letting me go and stepping back.
"I love you so much," she said.
"I love you even more," I told her before kissing her passionately.---
