32. Surprises

Rose woke up the next morning feeling a bit nauseous. She suddenly felt like she was about to throw up. She got up and ran to the bathroom. She lifted the toilet seat and began to puke. She heard footsteps coming up behind her and then her hair was being held back away from her face.
She finished throwing up and then sat down with her back up against the wall. She looked up into Scorpius's grey eyes. He smiled and sat down next to her.
Rose couldn't understand why she felt so bad all of a sudden. She tried to remember if she had eaten anything that didn't agree with her. All she had had yesterday to eat was that pastry from Délicieux Café. She frowned.
Then she heard Scorpius let out a little gasp. He slapped his hand over his mouth. Rose gave him a confused look.
"What?" she asked.
"You don't remember anything that happened last night, do you?" Scorpius asked.
Rose slowly shook her head. Scorpius looked anxious. Then Rose's eyes began to widen as she realized what he was saying.
"Did we...do it?" Rose whispered.
Scorpius nodded, his lips drawn together to form a thin line. Rose covered her mouth with her hand.
"We need to go to the store," Rose said, standing up.
Scorpius stood up as well and they began to get dressed.

After they were ready, Scorpius and Rose went to the nearest store. Rose grabbed a box of Muggle pregnancy tests. They paid for them and left. They went back to the hotel and Rose slipped into the bathroom to take one of the tests.
She was in there for a while and Scorpius was beginning to get worried. He went and knocked on the door.
"Rosie? Are you okay?" Scorpius called.
"Y-yeah. I'm f-fine," Rose said in a shaky voice.
She cracked open the door and thrust the test at Scorpius's face. The test had come back positive.
Scorpius gasped, covering his mouth with his hand. And then, Rose heard a loud thud. She looked out of the bathroom to find Scorpius lying on the floor. He had fainted.
Rose sighed and got out her wand.
"Augumenti," she whispered.
Water shot out of the end of Rose's wand and she let it flow over Scorpius. He eventually came to.
"Rose? Is the test really, absolutely positive? Are we having a baby?" Scorpius whispered nervously.
Rose nodded, a smile creeping across her face. Scorpius grinned a bit. They were both extremely nervous, but also very excited. They couldn't wait to tell the others.
Rose and Scorpius decided to sent a Patronus to everyone, telling them to meet at their house that afternoon.

Later that afternoon, Rose and Scorpius packed up and checked out of their hotel in Paris. They had planned on staying longer, but considering what had happened, they figured it would be best to head home.
They arrived at their flat around 1:30. They had told everyone to arrive around 3pm.
An hour later, Lily and Michael had already arrived. Lily begged Rose to tell her what was going on, but Rose refused to tell her anything until everyone else arrived.
Albus and Alice were second to arrive. They were closely followed by Hugo and Mackenzie; James and his fiancé, Tess; Hermione and Ron; Harry and Ginny; Roxanne; and finally Draco and Astoria.
Everyone sat down in Rose and Scorpius's living room. Rose sat down on Scorpius's lap and they addressed their company.
"As you all know, you were called here because Scorpius and I have some exciting news to share with you all," Rose began.
"Rose, just get to it! I've been waiting forever!" Lily moaned.
"Right. I'm pregnant!" Rose said with a smile.
Hermione smiled. Lily squealed. Some people just sat there. And then the room erupted into chaos.
People starting rushing towards Scorpius and Rose, offering their congratulations and parenting tips. It was all slightly overwhelming.
Once everyone had backed off a bit, Lily spoke up.
"We should do something to celebrate!" Lily suggested.
Rose looked over at Scorpius. He grinned and shrugged as if to say, It's up to you. Rose smiled.
"Let's do it," Rose agreed.
Lily smiled and she and Michael left to go get drinks and things. While they waited, everyone began to converse with each other. Astoria approached Scorpius.
"I need to speak to you," Astoria said.
Scorpius nodded and Rose got up. Scorpius went outside with his mum. Rose was worried. I didn't seem as though Astoria's conversation with her son was going to be a pleasant one. Rose sat down and Albus came over to her.
"Where's Scor?" Albus asked.
Rose pointed to the door.
"Outside with his mum," Rose replied.
Albus nodded and sat down next to Rose.
"I'm happy for you two," Albus said with a smile.
"Thanks, Al," Rose replied, hugging her cousin, "How're things between you and Alice?"
"Good. We are planning the wedding," Albus said with a grin.
Rose nodded.
Just then, Scorpius and Astoria reappeared. Scorpius looked upset. He walked over to Rose and leaned down to whisper in her ear.
"I need to talk to you," Scorpius said.
Rose started to get up, but he pushed her back down into her chair gently.
"No, later," he said.
Rose nodded and relaxed back down into her chair. Scorpius walked up the steps to the bedroom. Rose knew something was wrong.

Lily and Michael reappeared with drinks and food a few minutes later. They put everything out and everyone began to grab things.
Rose got up and got herself a pumpkin juice. She decided to take one up to Scorpius as well. That was one of his favorite drinks.
Rose went upstairs and knocked on the bedroom door. Scorpius got up and opened it. He let Rose in and they sat down on the bed together.
"What's wrong, Scor?" Rose asked, putting her head on his shoulder.
"Can we talk about this later?" Scorpius asked, running his hands through his hair.
"Sure," Rose said, getting up, "I'm going back downstairs now. Let me know if you need anything."
Rose smiled and gently kissed Scorpius's cheek before leaving to go back to the party.
