They approached the front door of Rose's house. It was a small cottage-style home made of washed-out white wood.
"This is it. Home," Rose said with a sigh.
"It looks lovely," Scorpius said breathlessly.
They knocked on the door three times.
"Come in!" a voice called from inside.
Rose recognized the voice as her mother's. She turned the knob and the door swung open. Rose walked inside, Scorpius right on her heels.
"Rosie?" Hermione called from the kitchen.
"It's me! I brought a guest!" Rose replied.
Rose turned and winked at Scorpius before leading him into the kitchen. Hermione turned away from the stove when she heard them come in.
"Is this the famous Scorpius Malfoy?" Hermione asked her daughter before turning to face Scorpius, "Rose has told me all about you."
Scorpius chuckled nervously.
"Ronald! Come here, please!" Hermione yelled up the stairs.
Ron came bounding down the stairs a moment later. He saw his wife and daughter before his eyes fell upon Scorpius.
"Who is that?" Ron asked, pointing at Scorpius.
"Ronald, that is Scorpius Malfoy. Rose's boyfriend," Hermione explained calmly.
"Our daughter? Dating a Malfoy?" Ron exclaimed.
"Just give him a chance. He's a really sweet boy, Ronald," Hermione said, smiling at Scorpius.
"Yeah, Dad. If he was really that bad, he probably would have done something bad to me by now. And he hasn't," Rose confirmed.
"I'll give him one chance. One," Ron said firmly.
"Thanks, Daddy," Rose said, hugging her father.
"Why don't you two run along while I finish dinner? Ronald, you sit down at that table and leave the children be," Hermione said sternly.
Ron sat down grumpily. Rose and Scorpius left the room quickly. They went up to Rose's room.
"This is my bedroom. Hugo's is down the hall a bit," Rose explained to Scorpius.
Scorpius looked around the room. There were posters of Quidditch teams, The Weird Sisters, and Muggle actresses and singers. Scorpius smiled to himself. Then he turned a big farther to his left and saw the Quidditch jersey he had bought her for her last birthday. It had Weasley 04 written across the back in red and gold lettering.
Rose came up behind him and put her arms around his neck.
"You kept it? I thought you'd trash it after we broke up," Scorpius said, touched.
"Of course I did. It reminded me that even though we were apart, there was at least one thing that held us together at heart," Rose said.
"Aw, Rose. You're going to make me cry," Scorpius said.
Rose laughed and released him.
The two stayed in Rose's room for a while, cracking jokes, kissing, and playing truth or dare. It was finally Rose's turn to ask Scorpius and she had thought up a great dare for him. She knew he would pick dare because he always did.
"Alright, Scor. Truth or dare?" Rose asked him.
He pretended to think about it.
"Truth," Scorpius said unexpectedly.
"Oh. Okay, um, if you could marry me right this second, would you do it?" Rose asked.
Scorpius smiled at her.
"Rosie, that's easy. Of course I would. I love you. You are perfect for me and I couldn't imagine being with anyone else," Scorpius replied.
Rose grinned goofily.
"Really?" Rose asked.
"Really," Scorpius replied.
Rose pulled him into a hug. She squeezed him tightly before letting him go. Scorpius kissed her forehead lightly. They smiled at each other.
Suddenly, they heard Hermione yelling up the stairs.
"Dinner's ready! Come and get it!"
Rose and Scorpius ran out the door and down the stairs, competing to be the first into the kitchen. They ran in at the same time, barely able to squeeze through the doorframe.
"Sounds like you two are hungry. Have a sit, have a sit," Hermione ushered them into chairs at the circular table before sitting down herself. Scorpius sat closest to the door with Rose on his left and Hermione on his right. Ron sat straight across from him, still looking quite grumpy.
"So! How are your parents, Scorpius?" Hermione asked, attempting to make him feel less uncomfortable at the table.
"Fine. They've told me all about you, Mrs. Weasley," Scorpius replied.
"Oh, dear, call me Hermione. No need to be so formal!" Hermione said kindly.
Scorpius smiled at her and took a bite of the meatloaf Hermione had prepared. Scorpius's eyes went wide and he made a noise of approval.
"Good?" Hermione asked him.
He nodded vigorously. Both Hermione and Rose laughed. Ron still wore a terrible frown.
"Lighten up, Ronald," Hermione told her husband.
"I'll lighten up when my daughter is no longer dating a Malfoy and he is out of my house," Ron replied angrily, quiet enough so that only Hermione could hear him.
"Ronald!" Hermione scolded him.
Ron gave her a look and kept eating. Hermione glared at him out of the corner of her eye. Then, she leaned over and whispered to Scorpius.
"Don't mind him. He's never appreciated the Malfoys. Don't take it personally; it was mostly your great aunt Bellatrix and your grandfather Lucius," Hermione assured him.
Scorpius nodded. He had never known his great aunt because she had died in the war and his grandfather had been sent back to Azkaban after the war to die. All he knew about them was that they were both Death Eaters.
"It's alright. I never knew either of them," Scorpius whispered back.
Hermione smiled sadly.
"They weren't good people. They murdered many and injured more," Hermione said.
She pulled up the sleeve of her sweater and showed Scorpius the cut on her arm. There were letters carved into her skin spelling out the word "Mudblood". Scorpius looked into her deep brown eyes, astonished.
"My family did that to you?" Scorpius asked.
"Yes. Your great aunt Bellatrix, to be specific," Hermione replied.
She pulled her sleeve back down and went back to eating. Scorpius placed a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry," he said softly.
"You aren't like them, Scorpius. Be your own person. You don't have to be like them. Don't feel like you have to sink down to their level," Hermione said consolingly.
Scorpius smiled at her and finished eating.
After dinner, they went into the family room to talk for a while. After a few minutes, Ron took Scorpius by the wrist and steered him out of the room and down the hall. They stopped in the foyer. Ron turned to Scorpius with a business-like look on his face.
"I've been observing you tonight. You seem to be a good, honest kid. I'm glad you aren't like the rest of your family. Stay the way you are and you'll be fine. I trust you to be with my daughter and I give you my blessing. But, if you ever hurt my little girl, just remember, you'll have to deal with me. Got it?" Ron said clearly.
Scorpius nodded to show he understood.
"Yes sir. I understand completely," Scorpius replied.
"Good," Ron said.
He shook Scorpius's hand before guiding him back into the living room. Scorpius sat back down beside Rose.
"What did he want?" Rose whispered.
"To say that he trusts me with you and to have that whole 'never hurt my daughter' talk," Scorpius replied.
Rose giggled and snuggled up next to Scorpius, her head on his shoulder and her hand in his.
"Do you two want to watch a movie? We have Lady and The Tramp. I know that's Rosie's favorite Muggle movie," Hermione asked, pulling the movie off the shelf under the TV.
"Well, I'll leave it up to Scor. You see, he's never seen a Muggle movie before," Rose said, looking up at Scorpius.
"I would love to," Scorpius replied, kissing Rose's lips lightly.
"Aw! They are in love, Ronald!" Hermione exclaimed.
Ron rolled his eyes and smiled.
Hermione popped the movie into the player and left the room. She ushered Ron out in front of her. Scorpius lay down on the couch and positioned Rose so she lay in front of him. He put his arms around her hips and rested his hands on her thighs. They watched the movie for a while until the two fell asleep on the couch together.---
I'm so happy with how this chapter turned out! Ron finally accepted Scorpius! Yay!!!
Don't worry, there are still many more chapters to come, trust me! I want to go all the way to the time after Rose and Scorpius have kids. I was thinking they could have two kids. I want one to be named Jane after Rose (Jane is Rose's middle name), but I wasn't sure what to name the boy. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments. Thanks so so much!
Please remember to read, vote, and comment!!!
