The hours of sunshine were diminishing, causing the flowers to fade and the leaves to fall. It was a subtle reminder winter was knocking on the door. Fall usually depressed me, and I would procrastinate lying under the blankets, wanting to hibernate until spring. However, my night with Chris had given me something to look forward to, and I felt as robust as the clear blue sky.
I was surprised he had stayed the entire night. Each time the opportunity arose, I expected him to leave however, the desire between us intensified each time our bodies touched.
I had made it through the morning without breakfast, but my metabolism was dwindling from lack of sleep. The smell of food inside the Student Union hall was coaxing me in that direction.
I looked around for the shortest line at the deli. Amid the bustling crowd, I froze as I saw Chris with another girl across the lobby. I smiled, unsure if he would acknowledge me. We had exceeded the three-time rule, and I was sure he wanted to avoid any contact with me. Surprisingly, he smiled back and walked towards me.
"I was hoping to catch you. Do you have lunch plans today?"
"I don't," I softly replied, wondering if this was the moment he was to tell me we could only be friends.
"Great," he said, reaching for my hand as we walked towards the counter to order. "Let's get something to eat and find a place to talk."
I could tell by the tone of his voice that our sexual encounters were about to end, but I was confused by the mixed signal of his fingers around mine. The cashier bagged up our sandwiches and drinks while Chris led me outside.
The sun was bright, and I reached for my sunglasses. Before I could get them out of my bag, Chris pushed me against a tree abruptly and gazed into my eyes. My body trembled with excitement as his lips lingered in front of mine.
"Sorry, but I just couldn't wait for a second longer," he apologized. "Last night was incredible."
His lips crashed onto mine. I clutched his neck, not giving him a chance to escape or say another word. He chuckled, leaning in to nibble on my neck.
"I think someone missed me just as much. Can I come over later? I have practice at 4, but should be done by 6. "
I was confused by what was happening. "You want to see me again?"
He looked as confused as I felt, "Of course. What did you think?"I held back a sob building in the back of my throat.
"I thought you were going tell me we made a mistake by exceeding your 3-time rule."
"You are more obsessed with these rules than I am," he shook his head. "Lexie, how can you think that after what happened between us? Can I come over later?"
t was hard to hide my enthusiasm, as I could only anticipate the pleasure I was about to receive but needed to set some ground rules. "We need to discuss what's happening first. You know I have issues with..."
His lips silenced me as I gave in to his kiss. His arms tightened around me, wiping any concerns I had away. "We can discuss it later."
I didn't like where this was headed and knew I needed to keep my priorities straight. "Only, if you let me get my homework done first," I blurted.
He laughed at my childish outburst and pressed his body against mine. I felt him grow hard under his jeans and knew I would give in to anything he said at this point. My breasts ached to be touched by his hands and I pressed myself against him.
He chuckled and pulled away as if he knew we were at the point of no return. "You are dangerous to be around, Lexie."
"I'm serious. I can't get behind this year," I said, pushing on his rugged chest.
