“This is awesome, Levy!” Lucy grinned as we ate our lunch. “Who would have thought that Makoto has a thing for you? And that he was bold enough to kiss you on the first date!”

“Lu-chan, you're being loud again,” I giggled.

“Although, I'm kind of jealous,” Lucy pouted, “now I'll have no one to complain about being single to!”

“We aren't dating,” I reminded her.

“But you will be,” she winked. “When are you going to bring him to the guild?”

“What?”

“He has to meet everyone! If he can use magic, you should get him to join Fairy Tail!”

“We've only been on one date, don't get ahead of yourself,” I laughed, rolling my eyes.

“You went on a date?!” “With who?!” I hadn't noticed Jet and Droy joining us at the table. Their shocked expressions told me that they had heard more than I would have liked them to.

“Well--”

“Makoto!” Lucy cheered.

“That bookstore guy?” Droy asked.

“The one who was always flirting with you?” Jet frowned.

“He wasn't flirting with me.” Although, maybe he was, and I just didn't realize it?

“That's the one!” Lucy told them. “They went on a date last night!”

“So that's where you went. We figured you were still resting up from our trip,” Droy said.

“How did metal head take the news?” Jet smirked.

“Who are you callin' metal head?” Gajeel's rough voice made everyone jump. He sat down on the end of the table, ordering something to eat from Mira.

“No one,” Jet grumbled. He and Droy said something about talking to Elfman, and then excused themselves.

“I wish they would get along,” I sighed to Lucy.

“They'll eventually get over it,” she reassured me.

“Hey, Gajeel!” Natsu said, standing in a fighting position. “Come fight me!”

“Go away, Salamander,” he grumbled. Gajeel never turns down a fight. I wonder if he's feeling alright? Come to think of it, I noticed that he looked a little pale.

“Come on!” Natsu laughed, “are you afraid to fight me? I bet you just don't want to lose to me again in front of Lev—“

“I said GO AWAY!!” Gajeel's arm turned into an iron club and smashed into Natsu's face, sending him flying across the guildhall. Cursing under his breath, he stormed out the doors.

“Natsu!” Lucy cried, running to him, though, he didn't seem too injured.

Worried, I ran after Gajeel. “Gajeel!” I called, trying to catch up to him. His long strides made three of mine, and he wasn't slowing down. “Wait up!” I panted when he finally stopped, allowing me to catch up.

“What?” He growled.

“Is—is everything okay? It seems like something's bothering you.”

“I'm fine,” he said, curtly.

“I just thought that--”

“You thought wrong. Leave me alone.” I stared at his back as he continued walking away. Something was definitely wrong, and it hurt that he couldn't confide in me. He didn't even look at me while we were talking.
