I squeezed my eyes shut as my lips met Gajeel's. I had no idea what his reaction would be, but I had to take the chance. For all I knew, it wouldn't work and the magic would hurt me again. I pushed all of those thoughts out of my head, though, and focused on sending my feelings to Gajeel. Come on, you idiot, I know you're in there! Fight this damn magic!

I felt his muscles all tighten, and his body suddenly went rigid. Hesitantly, I opened my eyes and leaned back. I stared into his beautiful red eyes, hoping their color returning to normal was a good sign. "Gajeel?" I asked. My voice was weaker than I had wanted it to be, and I was suddenly aware of just how light-headed I was from the loss of blood. Not to mention to pain coming from the wound. It seemed to be spreading through my body, which was strange. It must have to do with the magic.

When Gajeel gave a slight nod as an answer, relief flooded into me. "I'm...so glad," I whispered, putting my hand on his face. Knowing he was back to himself, my body finally gave out, and I collapsed against him. I heard him shout my name when I fell, but I couldn't keep my eyes open. Even if I die right now, I'll be able to die happily. Gajeel is himself again, and he knows how I feel.

~Gajeel~

“NOOO!!” The magic in my head seemed to be in pain, and I could feel it shrinking back. It seemed angry, which confused me. I thought it was just bragging about being twice as powerful? What could have possibly happened to get this kind of reaction? Taking advantage of its distraction, I pushed as hard as I could, trying to regain control.

I was thrown back into consciousness with a jolt. Something hot and sticky covered my arm, but that wasn't what caused my eyes to widen in complete shock. Levy's lips were planted firmly against mine and she had her eyes squeezed shut, almost as if she was afraid to open them. She noticed when my body went rigid, and opened her eyes, pulling away slightly.

“Gajeel?” She questioned, her voice light and airy. When I nodded, she smiled at me, putting her small hand on my face. “I'm...so glad.”

“Levy!” I caught her as her eyes closed and she collapsed against me. I had no idea what was going on. I got back control of my body to find Levy kissing me, and then she just passed out! That really happened right? Levy ki—ki—

She made some kind of gurgling sound before blood came out the corner of her mouth, causing all of my focus to come back to the scene in front of me. It was then I realized what was warm on my arm, and what was soaking nearly her entire dress. Blood. And it was coming from a huge gash in her stomach. I recognized the shape of her injury, and would know it anywhere. My Iron Dragon's Sword. That's the only thing that can make an injury like that. From the amount of blood pooling around my feet, I guessed I would find the exit wound in her back.

The street seemed to tip, and I could feel myself falling to my knees. The thought of what could have happened made me feel sick. Panic began a slow decent down my spine, causing my mind to race dangerously fast. Help. I need to get help. As I made my way to my feet once again, cradling Levy in my arms as gently as I could, I heard shouting.

“Levy!” Lucy gasped, a mixture of anger and concern on her face as she approached me. Jet and Droy followed close behind her, glaring angrily at me. “Oh my God,” she said, touching Levy's face. It was already several shades paler than before they had arrived, and the crimson pool at my feet continued to grow.

“Wendy!” Jet called, never taking his worried gaze from Levy's face.

“I'm here,” Wendy answered, coming closer, “how is she?”
