Chapter 14 - The 'Double' Date
ლ
dou·ble date
noun
1. a social outing in which two couples participate.
verb
1. take part in a double date.
-
In this case, 'double' is in quotation marks for its emphasis of assuming the act as an actual "Double Date". But really, it isn't actually a Double Date. It's just assumed to be.

And then run into a pole.❞

It wasn't likely for Hyun to be visiting his house these days. Saeyoung usually assumed that Hyun's career and new girlfriend kept him busy. But seeing the albino walking up to his doorstep was odd and surprising, but even so, Saeyoung gladly welcomed him inside.
"When was the last time you ate a healthy meal?" Hyun asked as he lamely picked up an empty Honey Buddha chip bag.
"Just this morning," Saeyoung replied as he plopped down on a spinny-chair and spun around. "Chips totally have great benefits - you just don't know it."
This was that moment when Hyun felt concerned for his friend. Not once did he ever see Saeyoung properly eating a good meal nowadays. All he sees here - which definitely did not please him - were chips and soda.
"Okay," he said, dropping the chip bag. "tell you what - In order for you to stop lounging around in your own filth, why don't you participate in a blind date that I'll set up for you? Not only that, but you'll also help out MC and I."
"That ... that doesn't sound swell."
Hyun immediately pulled out his phone and dialed a number. Then he said, "Hello, babe? Yeah, it's me ... I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me later tonight. Yeah. Can Luciel come with? ... No, he doesn't have a date ... Haha, really? Yeah, a blind date would be fun for him! ... You sure? ... Oh, okay, haha. I'm gonna come soon, okay? ... Okay. Bye~"
"You're kidding me, right?" Saeyoung whined, not believing that this was happening to him. It felt very unlikely of him to decide to just walk up to a woman, date them, get married and have children and all of that nonsense in one go. Well, that's the obvious part in life. But it would also seem unlikely for him to get a girlfriend, much less have anyone interested in him.
He just wasn't ready for romantic relationships. And even as much as he wanted to say that, he was curious as to how things will go. He never actually had any romance happening in his life, whether it ended in failure or not. It might as well be fantasy and dreams.
-
"I'm sure this blind date won't go well," Saeyoung proclaimed with sweaty palms. "If it goes well, does it mean that this mystery guy or girl and I will be official?"
"Depends on how you look at it." Hyun shrugged. "I myself have never gone on a blind date either, but it's fun to set people up."
"Give me a hint, please. Is it someone I know?"
"Pfft, I doubt it. She's one of MC's past classmates. Good friends."
Saeyoung took a steady breath, mildly nervous, and looked out into the open. The sun was starting to set as the temperature dropped drastically moreover. Both men stood alongside one another, not saying an addition to either's statements - whether they were satisfied or not. Well, that was what Saeyoung had thought. Who knew what was going on in Hyun's mind.
"Zen! Hello!" chirped a voice. Saeyoung and Hyun turned their heads to the source of the sound, immediately spotting MC and a girl who was trailing right behind. Hyun was right; he didn't recognize her, after all.
"Seven, this is Roe, Eun-seong. I call her Seo." MC began. "Seo, this is Seven. He also goes by the name Luciel, too."
Saeyoung watched the petite girl look up with a shy, unsure look. Then, shakily, she took out a hand. "Hello," was all she said with a polite smile.
Hesitantly, he took the hand and gave it a small shake, before immediately releasing. She instantly looked away afterwards, looking flustered.
MC and Hyun soon began to walk away, preferably to the location that they planned to go to. Saeyoung went, then Seo, and the quadruplet crowd began to create small talk on the way there. Saeyoung had then gave in to second thoughts, knowing that this is nothing but trash to him. He wasn't ready for relationships yet. Not after seeing his brother still out there and that (Name) had suddenly appeared and is now living with Hyun.
"Luciel, are you alright?" asked Seo, whom he looked down to in order to reach her eyes. She was extremely short for what seemed like a 21-year-old. He could tell that she was nervous and concerned at the same time. He himself felt the same, knowing that he'd never went on dates for no purpose whatsoever, and that this was all new to him.
A first date was what you would call it.Saeyoung merely reassured the young woman and looked onwards, glaring towards Hyun's back in discomfort. He couldn't think right now, and he was capable of admitting the fact that he did not like this at all.
Wanting to go back to his safe haven to rest and hack and eat on his junk food all over again was all he ever thought of in his mind. Even his robotic cat that was one of the only cats who loved him was in those thoughts.
"So...what do you wanna do?" MC asked under a slightly hushed whisper. Saeyoung could tell that she was trying to act secretive, but ended up being too loud for her own good.
Hyun seemed to be looking at something. "Let's go to this supermarket. We can probably buy some stuff here and eat some takeout."
MC looked towards Saeyoung and Seo with a smug grin. "And this, fellow newbies, is what I call the perfect date for me." she said and held up a thumbs up before entering the premises with Hyun.
"Oh, supermarkets are nice," Seo chuckled and followed after them - Saeyoung hesitantly following along. "as long as there is sweets in the bakery corner, I'll be completely satisfied..."
"Is this...really an actual date?" Saeyoung just had to ask in mere befuddlement. All three, Hyun, MC, and Seo, nodded their heads in agreement.
"This was my first thought when coming up with a date location," Hyun casually replied, looking around for the carts.
"An actual date provides real food." MC bluntly added.
"Where's the cookies?" Seo timidly asked, wearily looking side to side as if to find her beloved sweets - as what Saeyoung assumed for her to be doing.
And here he was, upon the countless of other people who were buying things and walking out, mindlessly realized that Hyun didn't actually plan out the date and that this wasn't even a date at all.
This isn't his first date. It's just a friendly outing.
"Do you guys even know what a blind date is? Because this is such a bad blind date."
