Feelings, January 16th, 2017

Ladybug sat on the ledge connecting to the Eiffel Tower and she sighed, hugging her knees to her chest and biting her bottom lip.

"What's wrong M'lady?" The familiar voice sent chills down her spine and she looked up to see Chat Noir standing beside her.

"Chat... can I ask you a question?" Her voice was nimble and soft, and Chat was concerned.

"Of course," Chat Noir sat down beside Ladybug and grew quiet as he waited for her to ask her question.

"What do you do after you've been rejected?" She asked quietly. When Chat didn't answer right away, she looked at him and noticed the sadness and shock clear on his face.

"I wasn't expecting that," he said with a soft chuckle. "But I don't think I've ever seriously been rejected." He paused and gave her a sad smile. "You reject me a lot M'lady."

Ladybug blushed softly and frowned. "I'm sorry." She said, shocking him.

"Wait.. why?"

Ladybug looked down and held her legs closer to her chest. "I just.. I never knew how much it h-hurt..." she bit her trembling lip and a few tears cascaded down her cheeks. "Chat I messed up.." she whispered. "I told this guy I liked him and.. well he likes someone else. I should have known too." She scoffed and wiped her eyes. "I'm so... I'm so pathetic underneath this mask. I'm clumsy, shy, awkward; you name it. Not one could ever like who I really am."

Chat sat there stunned. This all sounded a bit too familiar for his likening, but he just hushed Ladybug and pulled her closer into him. She laid her head on his shoulder and let out a shaky sigh, wiping away the last few tears as Chat held her in his arms.

"Ladybug?" He said, making sure he got her attention. "You are the bravest, kindest, smartest girl I've ever met." He lifted her chin and made her look at him as he smiled softly. "And that boy was a fool to not like you. Because with or without the mask you're still this amazing person." His hand moved up and he caresses her cheek softly, his fingers grazing her cheek bone which made the girl blush.

"C-Chat..." she whispered softly. She didn't know what else to do. She didn't know whether she should cry, smile, or just hug him. She was stunned. It was like he knew who she really was beneath this disguise.

"Ladybug, I have a question for you." He said. After a a few moments, he finally mustered out a small, "Who was the boy who rejected you?"

Ladybug looked away and bit her lip softly. Tears welled in her eyes once more and with a quivering bottom lip, she whispered out, "Adrien Agreste. You know. The model." She bit her lip and she began to cry again. "Chat I'm so stupid!"

Chat Noir sat there in silence. He couldn't believe his partner this entire time, was the girl who sat behind him in classes. Ladybug couldn't look at Chat anymore. Her eyes were probably red and puffy, and she knew she was a hot mess. And to make matters worse, Chat was all quiet now. "Please say something Chat," she whispered in a trembling voice. "I need you right now. I don't... I don't know what to do.."

"Marinette," Ladybug snapped her head up and looked at Chat in complete shock and horror, speechless at the fact that he suddenly knew who she really was.

"C-Chat...? What did you say..?" Maybe she heard him wrong. Maybe this was all just some wild crazy dream and-

"Marinette," he said more firmly. Ladybug didn't know what to think so she ended up just staring at him with her mouth slightly agape and her heart beating out of her chest.

"Adrien.. he.. he didn't mean what he said. If you had just let him finish.."

"Chat what are you talking about?" She moved away a little bit and the worse thing that came to mind was that Chat Noir was... no. He couldn't be Adrien. She would be humiliated.

"Please just listen to me M'lady," he whispered. "He likes you, I mean Ladybug. He liked Ladybug. There was no other girl because you are Ladybug. And remember what I said earlier? With or without the mask you're still a kind, funny, amazing girl and just because you're a little more out there with that mask, doesn't mean that Marinette isn't brave and amazing." He gave her a weak smile and brushed back astray hair from her face. "So I want to say I'm sorry. Because I didn't mean what I said."

"Chat you're not making any sense right now and I-"

"Adrien." He cut her off.

"What?"

"My name is Adrien."

That was just what she needed and her face grew into a red mess and she shook her head in embarrassment. Ladybug slumped over again and went back to crying, now from rejection and humiliation.

"You said it yourself... you like Ladybug... not me." She sobbed, shaking her head furiously.

"M'lady.." chat lifted his fingers and tilted her head towards him. Her eyes were red and she looked away from him, but didn't dare move her head from his gentle grasp. He caresses her cheek one final time before moving closer to her. "I love you, Marinette." His voice was barely above a whisper, and when Ladybug looked up at him finally, he sealed the space between them with a kiss.

All her previous emotions were clouded and all she could focus on was how soft his lips were against hers. It ended too soon, however, and Chat pulled away slightly. "I love every bit of you, and I want you to know that. Whether you're here as Ladybug or tomorrow as Marinette, I will always love you the same way." She hesitated slightly. He couldn't have meant all this. He couldn't have.

He was just saying it.

But there was a little part of her that wanted to believe him.

She slowly nodded her head and whispered, "Okay," in yet another trembling voice. Chat smiled softly and leaned in to kiss her one more time, and this time she happily returned the favor; kissing Chat under the moonlight of Paris.
