Summary: Drawing interesting people leads you to your best friend.
Time period: Present
Note: here's another! Uhm whoops I put woman and I wrote this when I was tired ?? Sorry
Muttering to yourself, you scribbled down words on your pad of paper, sitting in a little coffee shop on Broadway. You may seem a little crazy, in the cozy corner booth of the room, but you were far from. You were more interested in people, per say.
Human emotions and mentality had always been a peak of interest for you, despite majoring in art. It had been a side hobby to watch people's gestures and facial expressions to help your drawings. This visit to the coffee shop was truly something.
A short and extremely handsome man with hair as dark as the night sky and stubble the same had walked in, carrying a book, laptop, and a pad of paper with a pen sticking onto it. He'd quickly ordered a coffee and looked for a spot, the only being in your booth.
" Uhm, hey, " he rubbed the back of his neck, " could I sit there? " " Yeah, " you said, moving your sheets to your side of the table. He sat down. " I'm Lin, by the way, " he dazzlingly smiled, holding out his hand. You took it, responding, " I'm (Y/N). "
You'd struck up conversation. The way he'd used hands to speak, and how his eyes would light up when talking about something he liked or he'd scrunch his nose at the thought of something displeasurable. He exchanged numbers with you before you left.
When you had gotten home, you'd gone to town with doodles of him. You'd sat down and drawn for probably an hour.
The next time you met him, it was at the zoo. " I love the zoo. Like, I don't know why? It's just nice, I guess, " he explained as you were walking in. " Yeah, it is, " you chuckled, shoving your hands into your pockets.
" Nu-uh. You have to hold my hand so you don't get lost, " he joked, tugging a hand out and locking his fingers with yours. " Okay, " you grinned, laughing.
And just like that, you'd fallen in love with the man. Through his mannerisms, the way he talked, his beautiful face, his genius. It lit up your days and inspired you to work. You hadn't necessarily realized it until one night.
Lin slammed your apartment door open, clearly glum. " Hey Linny, " you greeted, as he sighed in response and threw his bag on the floor. " Long day? " you asked, draping your arm over the couch, knowing what he'd do. He nodded in response, jumping onto the couch and snuggling into your side.
You wrapped your arm around him, pressing him slightly closer. Turning on Netflix and putting on a show he liked, you fondly looked down on him. Your heart erratically beat. At that moment, you realized you loved him.
Ever since then, it seemed like you gone out of your way to be around and be with him. But, being best friends, you just already hung out all the time. Hanging out at your apartment became a regular thing.
Lin came over unexpectedly one day when you were sorting through your art to submit to Disney. He walked in, carrying pizza. " I got t-- Jesus Christ, this is some nice work, " he mused, looking around at the scattered art.
" Oh, hey Lin. I'm submitting to Disney and wanna find the best things. Wanna pop that pizza in the oven and help me? " you asked, looking at a piece before throwing it in another pile.
" Yeah, " he nodded, doing so and sitting down next to you and looking through your drawings. " God damn, you're talented, " he said, admiring the work, " This ones really good! I think they'd like it, " he said, putting it in your submission pile.
" Is this me? " he gasped, looking at this page. " Yeah! When we first met, I loved drawing you. You were beyond full of life. You still are, but I've kind of had a block, " you chuckled, putting your head on his shoulder and looking at it.
" Adorable. I love my crush drawing me, " he grinned, then his eyes widened, and he slapped a hand over his mouth. You raised an eyebrow, " Crush? "
He blushed. " Yeah, I kinda think you're really hot? " he confessed, and you giggled, kissing his cheek. " Yeah, I kinda think you're really hot too. "
