Note: Hellooo. Sorry I didn't write as much as I thought I woulda last weekend.
The scratching of pencils filled the room as your professor blabbed on about something to do with math. You were simply copying and praying you'd not fail the next test.
Senior year of high school, last semester. The semester where you'd finally given up and put minimal effort into anything. All you really cared about at this point was your friends. You were doing really well, despite that fact though; honor roll student, straight A's.
Most of them were in secure relationships which made you happy, but feel weird when you all went out. Sitting between couples was odd, but it wasn't terrible to be alone. You didn't have to speculate if you'd be cheated on or commit.
That is, how you felt, until someone showed up.
His name was Thomas.
" How was I drawn to him? Uh, heh, he'd fall asleep in class! He was a dark skinned, tall dude; frizzy dark brown locks; mature in the body! Like, woah. "
" That's not the only reason I liked him, though. He said he moved here with his Ma from New York, where dreams are made. That's where I'm from, too! "
When he had walked into your first period, you'd stared for some time. His name was echoing in your head as he sat down in front of you.
Wanting to get closer, you switched seats and sat next to him.
Blushing, you looked over at him. " H-hey, I'm (Y/N), " you sheepishly said, staring into his dark brown luminous eyes and sticking out a hand.
" Thomas, " he said, shaking it.
He'd seemed mature; oddly enough, for your age; so you swapped phone numbers.
" And I was like, what the heck I gotta do to be with you! "
" What the heck I gotta do. What the heck I'd gotta be, for you to be with me? "
" You told him all of this in class? "
" Yeah! I texted him, you know, I was like, what the heck I gotta do to be with you? And lol, and all that. After all that spiel, he'd send a smiley face, and I just was like, yeah! Then, we texted day and night. He'd listen to my problems, copy my homework. One night, I'd laid it all out! And he'd said no, but not exactly no. So, I was like, okay, and I'd decided I'd go and serenade him. "
Walking into the classroom and slamming the door, you were clearly met with a ton of stares. A few of your friends were next to you, holding signs. Taking a deep breath, you grinned.
" What the heck I gotta do? " you sung out, doing a little cheesy dance around him. He was staring, blushing slightly. Behind you, out of the corner of your eye, you could see your friends flipping signs that read, " What The Heck I Gotta Do "
" Tell me who I gotta be-e-e-e for you to go to prom with me! " you posed, getting down on your knees in front of his desk.
" You asked him to the prom? "
" Yeah, I danced and everythin'! "
" Thomas, I know we just met and you just transferred and, Thomas, I know there's a reason you transferred here! Like, it's destiny! "
He stood up, and you darted in front of him, grabbing his hands. " Thomas, you know me, will you go to prom with me? "
Looking off to the side, pondering for a second, he looks down on your hopeful eyes. Chuckling, he responds, " I'll think about it, darling, " before walking away.
Your friend walked up, wrapping their arm around your neck. " He'll think about it! "
All your friends are repeating this behind you, and you can't help but scream, " Yes! "
" I didn't say, yes. I didn't say I'll think about it. I can't tell you my name, but yes, I can confirm, I did get asked to the prom. "
" Meet the man who plays Thomas. A new recruit of the police. 24 years old. "
" I don't want to say much. All I need to say is that I'm looking for students selling drugs. It's a high felony. I'm there posing as a student to figure out the druggies. I'm just trying to do my job, one school at a time. "
Over the phone, Thomas had asked you to bring drugs. If that's what he'd wanted, you'd get it. Through a cousin's friends cousins and so forth, you'd gotten the goods.
Slipping it in his pocket, he'd try to force money into your hand, sitting next to him in class. " Thomas, I don't want it. I got this just for you, keep it, " you whimper, looking up at him. His eyes narrow. " Take it, please. "
" There's nothin' I won't do, for you, Thomas. I come through for you. Every time. " " (Y/N), please, just take the money. "
Arguing back and forth, he'd finally slipped it into your hand. " Okay, " you whisper, defeated.
" (Y/N) would later find out it was a felony to sell marijuana. The penalty is even harsher for selling it on school property. In other words, poor (Y/N) had made a irreversible decision.
Since she was over 18, she was legally an adult when she did so. Thomas thought he was doing the right thing when he had tricked (Y/N), to make the school a better place. "
" The police arrested 31 students, including (Y/N). "
Sitting in that jail cell for a week, you knew you were screwed. The cops had the texts to him. You'd plead guilty for three years of probation.
Thomas sighed, " These kids need to wake up and realize the effect of drugs on families. I grew up around them, and it's not pretty. They aren't cool, they aren't funny. "
" He was a dark skinned, tall dude; frizzy dark brown locks; mature in the body. Like, woah. That's not the only reason though.
If it had been another person coming up to me and asking for drugs, I'd be like, hell no. Get out of my face. I don't hang out with people like that. "
" Have you talked to him since? "
" No. Heh. I'd love to have that conversation. "
" What would you say? "
" I'd say, Thomas, what did you do? Thomas.. what did you do.. "
