"You excited for tonight?"Taylor asks me as we get ready for our Varsity game in a couple hours as JV plays their game.

"Yeah, I guess."

"Well, isn't your girlfriend supposed to be coming tonight?" She asks and I sigh, tying my shoes after pulling my knee pads up my legs, to my knees, obviously.

"Supposed to, but she's said that how many times in the past two years?"

"Every game."

"And how many games has she shown up to?"

"State Championships. And went to the wrong one. She watched the boys instead of us."

"Exactly, so what makes you think she's going to come to this one?" I ask and Taylor stays quiet as I leave the locker room to sit in the stands and watch JV.

-

"Y/N!" Coach yells out and I look over and run to him when he waves me over. "Go in for Jordin."

"But that's a one, I don't know the one." I say and he smiles.

"Yes you do, you'll do fine." He says and I sigh, jogging over to crouch in front of the announcer and score keeper and jog onto the court and point at Jordin as I jog on and high five her as we pass each other. When she's on the bench, I'm smacked in the shoulder by Dylan, I look over at her and she asks me what play we're running.

"Slide still. He didn't tell me anything different." I say and she nods as we all get into our spots and I watch the ball closely as the opposing team passes it along the outside and catch the ball when their three tries to pass to their one and take the ball down the court to make a layup, knocking one of the other players down onto her back as the two points is put onto the board while my name is announced.

"Y/N Y/L/N! Two points!" The announcer says into the microphone in his hand as I get into position after Coach yells out the play he wants us to run.

"Arizona!" He yells out and I screen the girl trying the hardest to get open and let myself fall when she runs into me and smirk as I get the foul and the two shots. I take the two shots and make both of them and drop to the top of the key as Jordin gets her hands on the ball despite being boxed out and take the pass from her and drop back a step and move like I'm going to pass to Dylan and keep the ball before shooting a three while my defending player follows the fake and watch as it bounces around the rim before dropping in and stay up to press their one as she takes the ball down the court and take the ball when she mishandles it at the half court line and rush back toward my teams basket and stop as their one rushes me and fake her out and watch as she slips before passing to Jordin, who hurls it over the key, to Dylan, who passes to me and I toss it inside to Kayley who takes it, dribbles once, pivots and makes a layup as the period ends. At the end of the third period, we're up 50-5 as we huddle at our benches and I listen to coach as he tells us starters what he wants us to do for the one remaining period. Five minutes into the fourth period, I stand inside the key in my defensive stand and take the ball that was poorly passed and book it down the court and make a lay up and land on my back, because I lost my balance when I tried to land on my feet. Taylor rushes over and helps me up and I adjust my uniform as I get back into my position and watch as my little sister is put into the game and move to my usual four position as she takes the one position. Even though I was really having fun. The rest of the game doesn't really change, I mean, the other team doesn't out score us. Be kinda hard to with such little time. Hard, but not impossible, which why I keep my guard up and play like its still the first period of the game and jump up and catch the terrible pass and haul my skinny ass down that court to our basket and make a layup just as the buzzer goes off, I land, on my feet this time, and scream out happily because I honestly didn't think I was going to be able to make it, and go over to the bench and line up before shaking hands with the other team, their coaches and the refs and head to the locker room to change out of my jersey. When I'm out of my jersey, I go to the training room and make myself a bag of ice for my shoulder and pull my shirt off and let the student trainer that only works girls games wrap my shoulder for me and thank her before getting a small cup of ice and head back to the locker room to finish changing.
