A/N: Still on my phone! So you get more of Alexis! Yay!

Lauren Jauregui was a 21 year old collegiate softball player for University of Georgia, but lived in her own apartment off campus because her dad didn't deem the amazing dorms in the eight dorm villages UGA offered, right for his daughter. So when Lauren was out by herself in town and met the sweetest five year old she'd ever come to meet, she absolutely fell in love with the little girl, who's name was Alexis Tyler, she asked where the toddler's parents were, and her heart broke at the little girl's answer.

"Mommy and Daddy went bye bye when I was little."

"They left you?" Lauren asks and looks up when someone clears their throat.

"Is she bothering you?" The man asks and Lauren shakes her head.

"Well, we have to go now."

"Wait. Is she an orphan?"

"Yes. But nobody will adopt her." The man says, picking the toddler up.

"I will!" Lauren cries out, her heart aching to see the toddler's blue eyes shine with the happiness that possessed them moments ago.

"How old are you?" The man asks.

"I'm twenty one."

"Alright." He says before giving Lauren the address for the orphanage Alexis was at and shortly after Lauren finished shopping and put everything away at home, she paid a visit to the orphanage and smiled as the blue eyed toddler that stole her heart runs to her, so Lauren picks her up and hugs the little blonde girl tight as a woman walks up to her with a friendly smile.

"Hello! You must be the lovely woman John said wanted to adopt little Alexis here." The lady says, taking Alexis from Lauren's arms, setting her down and telling her to go play.

"Yeah. That would be me." Lauren says and the lady nods.

"Well, my name is Isabelle. I'm the one in charge here, my husband, John just helps out." Isabelle explained and Lauren nodded.

"My name's Lauren."

"Well, Lauren, follow me so we can start with a background check."

In Isabelle's office, Lauren sat in a chair across from Isabelle and answered all of the question the older woman had to ask.

"Do you have a job?"

"I do. I work at Walmart because they pay really well, and they're very understanding with my schedules."

"Is there a place for Alexis in your home?"

"Yes. I have a two bedroom two bath apartment that I rent just off the UGA campus."

"Are you a student?"

"Yes. I am in fact enrolled at UGA. I'm studying for two doctorates in performing arts as well as fine arts, as well as mastering in photography."

"Busy girl. Any extracurriculars?"

"I play softball for the Georgia Bulldogs."

"As well as work full time?"

"Yeah."

"Would you mind if either John or myself accompanied you through your daily routine sometime this month?"

"No, not at all."

"Well, since we have your contact information already, we'll call you."

"Wait, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure."

"What happened to Alexis's parents?"

"Her mother died while having her and her father died en route from the hospital." Isabelle says and Lauren sighed.

"If I have to, I'll quit school for her. I will do anything to get that little girl."

Three months later, Lauren sat in her living room, smiling at her adoptive daughter sleeping on her lap before carrying her to her room and puts her in her bunk bed that she wanted so much before leaving to go back to the living room to finish watching the movie they were watching together. An hour later, Lauren jumps up at the sound of Alexis crying and runs to the toddlers room to see her laying on he ground. Lauren turns on the light and picks her daughter off the floor and hugs her tight, rubbing the little girl's tiny back to soothe her.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. You're okay. I'm here, you're okay. Nothing will happen now." Lauren says calmly to the crying child in her arms. "What happened?" She asks and Alexis hiccups a few times before speaking.

"I-I needed to go potty. So I climbed down and I was gonna go potty, but then I fell and hurted myself!" Alexis cries out and Lauren kisses the toddler on the forehead before drying the baby girl's tears with her thumbs and tucking blonde locks behind red tinted ears, meeting puffy blue eyes with her soft, warm, caring green ones.

"Well, let's get you to the potty. Okay?" Lauren asks and Alexis nods. After the five year old had done her business, Lauren let her sleep with her in her considerably larger bed compared to the bed the toddler was used to.
