Y/N sighed as she listened to her stepsister talk about how her girlfriend was never around anymore since their senior year started. Y/N rolled her eyes and huffed, which caught her sister's attention. The sisters were sitting in Y/N's room, doing their homework in an empty house because their parents were currently out of town for one of Carlos's shows, Y/N's mom went with him because the girls assured them they could take care of themselves for the three whole days they'd be gone.

"Y/N." She says and Y/N raises an eyebrow. "Do you not care?" She asks and Y/N huffs.

"Of course I do, sis! It's just that you aren't thinking about this, Lucky." Y/N says and her sister sighs.

"What am I missing then?" She asks and Y/N shrugs.

"Lucy, she plays soccer, basketball and softball. She's got a schedule full of Honors Classes, BPA to run, and more clubs than that. She's working hard at keeping that valedictorian spot as well. Do you think she has time for a relationship right now?" Y/N rationalizes and Lucy pouts a little, knowing that her stepsister is right.

"She promised this wouldn't happen though." Lucy says and Y/N shrugs.

"And I promised to maintain at least a 3.0, then senior year started and I'm back to fighting that 2.5 mark." Y/N says and Lucy sighs.

"I guess you're right. You think that she'll at least visit or text on vacations?" Lucy asks and Y/N sighs.

"I dunno. Why?" Y/N asks and Lucy sighs.

"Y/N, Lauren's your best friend. How are you not more worried about her than I am?" Lucy asks and Y/N shrugs.

"We share the field and court all year. We talk every day."

During Christmas break, the basketball team had a three day tournament to go to, so when the team got to the hotel, Lauren and Y/N were roomed together as always. As Y/N is laying on the bed listening to her music and relaxing, Lauren smiles as she tosses her bag onto the bed Y/N left for her before jumping on her best friend, who grunted, taking her headphones off.

"Hey, Ralph." Y/N says and Lauren rolls her eyes.

"You been talking to Dinah?" Lauren asks and Y/N shrugs.

"Maybe." Y/N says and Lauren smiles, hugging her best friend tight.

"I missed talking to you." Lauren says and Y/N sighs as Lauren rolls off to lay next to her best friend.

"So why don't you do it normally?" Y/N says and Lauren sighs.

"It's a busy year for me, Y/N/N." Lauren says, and Y/N gives her friend a look.

"Your girlfriend is worried about you, Lou. At night, when she has a nightmare, she comes and curls up with me until she calms down or falls asleep. Most of her nightmares are about you getting hurt and her not knowing because you've been so off the grid lately." Y/N says and Lauren sighs. "At least FaceTime her from my phone to surprise her and let her know you're alive."

"I'd rather not." Lauren says and Y/N looks down at her best friend.

"Why?"

"I don't feel what I used to feel for her anymore." Lauren says and Y/N's eyes grow wide.

"What? Okay, now you need to text her and say that when school starts again, you guys need to talk face to face." Y/N says and Lauren sighs.

"Okay. Fine. I'll text her in the morning."
