Kris

It’s been a week since we came here. And within our stay in this beach house, there hasn’t been anything that made our days boring and uninteresting. Everyone’s doing their part in cooking, cleaning, fixing things, and in entertaining us. It’s not surprising that Dominic’s usually in the kitchen helping Ate Cory. Habang kami, kung ano 'yung pwedeng gawin on our spare time, ginagawa namin. Madalas nasa beach lang kami.

Since it’s a private property, kami at kami lang 'yung nagkikita. Honestly, at first I thought 2 weeks was going to be too long. But with a week left, I was already missing this bunch of weird wolves I have as friends.

And then there’s Alexi Rei.

I smiled at my thought. For the past days, I noticed I have become closer to her. I have come to know some of her traits, how she reacts and acts. She’s kind of cute, honestly. And with her, I feel like I could laugh without getting teased. Hindi kasi sanay ang mga kaibigan ko na ngumingiti o tumatawa ako. They just see me as the cold guy. With Rei, lumalabas 'yung ibang side ko which really surprises everyone - including me.

“Dude, hand me the meat,” agaw ni Dominic sa atensyon ko. I was helping him cook our lunch.

“Which one, this?” I pointed at the pork.

“'Yung isa.”

I looked at the landscape in front of me. It reminded me of my mom na mahilig mag-ayos ng garden namin. I miss my Mom.

“Kris,” a girl’s voice called from my back.

Lumingon ako and saw Sara smiling at me. She was wearing a floral dress. “You look lovely,” I said.

“Well, thank you, Mister Cold Guy,” nakangiting sabi niya. She stood at my side, facing the same landscape. “Ang ganda talaga dito, 'no?” Then she glanced at me, most probably noticing the disgusted look on my face. “What?”

"'Di ba sabi ko 'wag mo akong tawaging Cold Guy?”

“Woah!” she reacted dramatically. “The Cold Guy is mad.”

I squinted and pinched her cheek. “Ang kulit kulit mo rin, Sara. Buti na lang talaga.”

Pinalo niya 'yung kamay ko. “Aray ko naman, Kris. 'Di ka na naawa sa pisngi ko. Sumbong kita kay Kai.”

I didn’t respond.

“O, e ba’t andito ka? Nagda-drama ka na naman?”

I looked at her. “Is there something wrong with being alone?”

“Wala naman. It’s just… unusual,” sagot niya. “You’re always with Alex lately.”

Napatingin ako sa sinabi nya.

She giggled. “Don’t give me that look, Kris.”

“Are you jealous?” I said with a smirk, teasing her.

In response, she pinched my arm. “Kahit kelan ang feeling mo,” gigil na sabi niya. “But seriously, Kris, I’m happy for you.”

“What do you mean?” We started to walk the trail palabas ng gate.

She smiled. “You’ve moved on.”

It’s fair to say that I have indeed moved on from her. “And?”
