Hayden and I talked for hours, not realizing that we talked so long that Logan came home with the girls. Was it really three already?
“I thought something was wrong, you never answered my text messages.” Logan said coming to me.
“Oh.” I said looking at my phone, five new messages, six missed calls. “Sorry, your mom and I have been talking.”
“What about?” he asked kissing my head.
“Stuff.” I said as we both laughed.
“Mom you didn’t show her my baby pictures did you?”
“No..”
“Mom!”
“She’s your girlfriend, you’ll be fine.” she smiled.
“Kacey, you’re okay!” Taryn yelled running to me.
“Yes I’m fine. See pain is all gone.” picked her up.
“I made this for you in art.” she said holding up a card.
“Wow, thank you so much, I love it.” I said opening it.
I read, “Kacey, get better soon, hate to see you in pain, I love you. Love Taryn.” it was decorated with flowers, a rainbow, a picture of me and her together. She is so precious.
“Oh and here’s a note from my teacher. She said to give it to you.” she said handing me the envelope. I was scared to see what it was going to be about.
Reading it I was relieved. Since Taryn was gone from school for a week staying in the hospital with me, she became behind in work. She wanted Taryn to stay after school until she is caught up with her work.
“What’s it say?” she asked.
“Your teacher wants you to stay after school to get caught up with your work.”
“Oh. Okay.” she said and walked off to join Lauren and Alexia who were watching TV.
I put my hands on my face and rested them against the table. I was becoming stressed and overwhelmed.
“Kacey, you alright?” Hayden said with worry in her voice.
“I have to take care of Taryn and her staying after school, and then I have so much work to do, I’m afraid of not graduating or not having enough money.” I panted out crying. Right away Logan picked me up from the chair and hugged me, wiping my tears away.
“I will help you with your school work, we can figure something out with Taryn, if my mom isn’t working, I’m sure she would love to pick her up. We will get through this together.” he said his big, soft hands caressing my face.
“Okay.” I sniffled smiling.
Then all of a sudden Hayden’s phone rang, she smiled at the caller I.D and left the room. I knew exactly why she was smiling, it was George.
“Why did she smile at her phone?” Logan asked.
“Oh its probably just George.” I said but said in a way that was disturbing.
“What happened?” he knew something was bugging me.
“Met George this morning, he said something that really hurt my feelings, but I’m over it, so its all good.”
