Okay y'all need to listen to "Breath By: Lauv"  while reading. This is basically just going to be young Dean and Cas just being lil' youngins. They're like 9 here.

Dean and Cas walked leisurely beside eachother as cars passed by. It was a normal Thursday morning and they both just enjoyed the 10 minute walk as much as they could before they got to school. "We're best friends, right?" Dean asked, watching his foot go forward and fall behind then the opposite one moving forward. Cas turned his head toward him with confusion at the question.

"Yes, Dean. Always," He said, not taking his concerned royal blue eyes off him. "Is there something wrong?"

"No, it's no biggie," Dean shook his head and looked at Cas with a small smile.  "It's all good"

"Is this about Megan?" Cas sighed. Dean went stiff with jealousy at the sound of her name.

"N-No!" He stammered defensively, shaking his head.

"Dee-"

"You picked her, in gym...you picked her to be your buddy for badminton" It was Dean's turn to sigh as he hung his head again, watching his feet walk forward; feeling as if his body left his self behind.

"That's nothing, trust me," Cas reassured yet Dean kept walking with silence. "Hey," Cas placed a hand on his shoulder, causing Dean to stop and look over his shoulder with sad green eyes, batting his lashes. Heck, Deans lashes were so long it always looked like he was batting them.

"Really?" He asked, eyes glassy.

"Yes, here," Cas stood beside Dean and leaned in, kissing his cheek. "Hold my hand"

"Do boys hold hands?"

"Why not?" He said rhetorically as he slipped his hand into Deans, lacing their fingers together perfectly.

"Will Megan care?" Dean asked, still worried.

"Who cares" Cas shrugged as he lead Dean forward as he began to walk again.

"Best friends forever, Cassie" Dean smiled softly and looked at his friend with a warm stare, his pupils almost entirely covering the green forest in his eyes as he watched Cas walk with him, hand in hand.

"Is it okay to say I love you?" Castiel asked and Dean wasn't in the slightest taken back by the question he just stared.

"I love you" Castiel smiled and turned his head to look at Dean and replied:

"And I love you, Dee"

~Weeks Later~

Dean was never the same. Not after Cas had moved. It was just weeks after the day they  held hands and he'd never forgive Cas for what he did just before he left.

"I have to leave now, Dee" Dean latched onto his best friend, begging for him to stay; tears drenched his face. Dean's eyes were puffy and broken, the green in his eyes was fading; the fire in his eyes was dying slowly by the rain of his soon to be loss.

"Why? You can't, you have to take me with you" They sat on the stairs of Dean's front porch, Dean's arms wrapped around Castiel.

"Because- Dean you know why. They don't like our friendship; they say our friendship is wrong and my parents don't want me getting hurt"

"What about me?" Dean asked

"I'll come back, don't worry" Cas took the sleeve of his sweater and wiped Dean's tears away even if more just came right back. He watched him break down completely in a fit of agony and sobs which made leaving him on his steps even harder; impossible.

"I love you, don't forget me, Dee" Cas rose from the steps with his friend and looked to the right to see his mother waving him over before walking back inside Cas's now old house that was right beside Dean's. "Here" Cas said and held one side of Dean's face with his hand and flashed a sad smile at him while wiping the tears away with his thumb. Dean nuzzled his head against Cas's touch and let the feeling soak into him to stay long after Cas drove away.

"I love you" Dean whispered and shut his eyes and kept them close as Cas leaned forward and granted Dean with a little kiss. Both their cheeks flushed red as Cas pulled back and then gave Dean the biggest hug.

"Do boys kiss other boys?" Dean asked as they hugged.

"It doesn't matter; wait for me, I'll be back" Cas let go of Dean and ruffled his hair before running away to the truck just as his mother came out of the house. She shot Dean a sad stare and waved as she helped Castiel into the truck.

Twenty-minutes had passed yet Dean didn't know what to do other than stare at the corner the truck had disappeared around and let his little heart break.
