Dean laid on the hood of his impala, his special boy beside him, hands laced together perfectly. The twilight sky littered with stars that were light years away, the even farther ones creating faded white patches throughout the sky. The moon full and vividly luminous as occasional clouds drifted passed it.
They needn't a conversation for the others company was enough for the moment. It wasn't completely silent after all: the mellow brushing of the tall grass in the field they parked in the center of, relaxing and serene. The distant chirps and buzzing of the crickets and firefly's that resembled minuscule lanterns that flashed on and off as they drift quietly along the sky line. Dancing in groups or solitary, landing occasionally and disappearing into the tall grass.
"Dean?" The angel ended the beautiful stillness. Dean turn his head, his ear coming into contact with the cold black metal of the hood of the impala.
"Yeah?" He examined Cas up and down with a smile slowly forming on his face.
"I think Sam might be worrying about us, we've been gone long" He said, turning his head to the side to look at his boyfriend.
"We're okay, trust me he's probably alseep by now. It's three-eighteen." It was silent once again with the background noise of nature. Dean and Cas both turn to look back up at the sky.
For once Dean didn't feel panicked or worried, they had just gotten rid of the darkness and got Sam back from that evil british blonde. Dean also had his mother back who was more than supportive of his relationship with Cas. Everything right now was okay, he felt okay.
Dean could feel Cas tracing patterns on the back of his hand with his thumb, the gesture making him feel safer.
He loved Cas, it wasn't a choice. It just sort of developed and happened over time. It was slow yet beautiful."I love you" Dean said in merely a whisper as he scooted closer to his angel, resting his head in the crook of his neck as Cas left tiny kisses on his head.
"I love you too" Cas answered, looking down at the gorgeous man he came to love more than anything in this world. His heart breaking knowing what would happen tomorrow. He wanted this to last forever. Poor Dean didn't know this was their last night together.
Dean lifted his head, their eyes connecting. Dean could never get over how intoxicating Cas's eyes were. They were a dark royal blue, the colour of the ocean on a sunny day with flecks of cerulescent blue spread out around the pupil.
Ever sense he started falling for the angel he coud never understand why blue was always known as the sad colour. Blue was the colour of the sky, the colour of the sea, the colour of flowers. It was a beautiful color and whenever he saw the colour he became happier in that moment because it reminded him of his darling.
Grey was the saddest colour. Grey was the colour of a cloudy day, those days where the sky would get so dark it looked like it might rain but never did. Grey was the colour of stone walls that isloated prisoners, grey reminded him of the day Cas died for the first time. He looked outside and it was a torencial down pour, sky the darkest shade of grey right before black. Horrible day.
Cas leaned in and Dean felt like a nervous school boy about to have his first kiss on the front porch of his house with the boy he dreamt about night after night hoping his father wouldn't catch them. It felt thrilling and wondrous.
