~Continuation from last chapter~

after twenty minutes of walking back to the Training grounds I pause. 'I left the bread!' I think to myself and immediately run back to where I remember leaving the bread on the street. It takes me ten minutes but I finally see my basket.

'oh thank go-' I cut off my thought of relief as I near the basket. It's empty. I clench my fist angrily and wipe away a potential tear from my eye turning around in a moment of blind anger to try and figure out who stole it, then I stop myself. Whoever took my bread is most likely far away by now.

I relax my fists and scoop down to pick up my basket, knowing exactly what's going to happen to me now.

~flashback to earlier that day~

"if you even think of not bringing any money back then this," the other Trainee grabs a lock of my (h/c) hair, "this is gone." I nod my head quickly and scurry away, wiping away a tear. I may be older then everyone here but I was the shortest. and no matter how good I was with my 3dmg I would always be an outsider, a chore lady, the weak one.

~flash forward, back to present moment~

I mutter under my breath and start walking back to the camp. I had a long way to walk and my legs already ached.

I pause again, and look up at a bird flying past. For a moment I lose myself and I am that bird, flying through the air, free of everything. I close my eyes and smile, my chin still facing the sky as a warm breeze passes my face.

'well, today is going to be horrible when I get back, but what worse could happen, right?' I think to myself and look down at the dusty stone underneath my feet. My happiness from just a mere moment ago has vanished. I grit my teeth and look back at a building. It wasn't a very interesting building, but I wanted to be higher, I wanted to leave the ground behind. I wanted to ignore my problems for even a slight moment.

So that's exactly what I do. I put down my basket, go down an alleyway, and start scaling the building. But even though I'm climbing I can feel someone's eyes on the back of my neck. I look around and, spotting nobody, I go back to climbing. It takes me under a minute to reach the roof of the building and I look around, grinning wildly.

'if the Military Police see me up here I'll be in trouble' I think to myself, lying down and staring up at the sky.

"W-well" I say out loud, stretching my arms under my head, "I'll just have to make sure that I'm n-not caught." and with that I close my eyes.

Before I can even think about sleeping a loud crash echoes in my ear. Screams and yelling can be heard coming from the town below me. I immediately stand up and dart my head to the direction of the crash.

'A hand. There is a giant hand on the wall...' I stumble backwards in horror as I see a colossal head appear over the wall, a billow of smoke from its body flies into the air and the ground starts shaking.

"No..." I whisper, stunned by the horrific scene in front of my eyes, my body not willing to move.

I'm so shocked that when the next huge crash comes and rocks start flying out, I don't even flinch, not one bit. Someone near me is screaming in terror but when I look around for the source I don't see anybody there. The screaming gets more distraught as huge boulder sized pieces of concrete land near me, and as my knees give way underneath me I realize that the person screaming was me.

In one small second, one mere moment, our false sense of peace was gone. I look around in panic as my brain comprehends the situation I'm in. and I see them.

"Titans" I barely whisper, "Titans are e-everywhere". I burst out sobbing and cover my mouth with my hands, my screams and sobs muffled by them.

I hear a noise to my left and whip my head to face it. With horror I realize that I'm staring into the face of a Titan. A hand reaches over the edge of the building I'm sitting on and grabs my whole body, as if I was the doll in the hands of a child.

I feel my feet lift off the ground, the pressure that enclosed me tightened. I scream out and attempt to wiggle free.

I look down the throat of the monster and start crying. 'I'm not ready to die, I promised Them that I would live... I promised Them that I wouldn't die in vain...I promised myself that I would live to see Him again' I think in a panic and scream out for help, I can't die here.

My body is lowering into the Titans greedy mouth, and I give up.

'I shouldn't make promises. I can never keep them.' A single tear rolls down my cheek and I close my eyes, bracing myself for my death.

I feel myself fall, but before I touch the titans tongue, a pair of strong arms wrap around me and I feel myself flying. 'wait, flying?' I open my eyes and I look down. sure enough, I'm whipping through the sky like a bird.

I gasp as my body lowers onto a roof, far from any Titan and I look up just in time to see my savior - the man who was cold, his gaze flickering to mine as he expertly jumps backwards and flies off over top of me with his 3dmg and sword drawn.

It was then that I realized that I needed to work with this man, whatever the cost.

I had finally found somebody.

But had they found me in return?
