-Your POV-
I stare at the cold man's lonely expression as beautiful music drowns out the butterflies in my stomach. The too-familiar melody echoes around the room while Levi plays the violin and my heart strings together.
'Mystery Man was Levi? Your crush? What the hell were the odds?' Achida whispers his sarcastic question into my ears and I can feel my chest begin to throb as I watch the Captain's elegant posture while he plays the most pure and innocent of songs
"L-Levi..." My hand rushes to cover my mouth as Levi's eyes snap open and his hand freezes mid-chorus. The cold eyes turn to me in shock, the fear in evident in his sharp and handsome features. I back away slightly, suddenly worried about what he's thinking.
The sleek violin lowers as his mouth opens. No words come out and Levi just stares at me, frozen in place. Heat rushes to my cheeks at I realize that we're staring at each other and that strange blonde boy is behind me, watching...
I open my mouth to apologize but before I can even utter a single word Levi's expression changes from surprise to a deathly glare as he stares at me straight in the eyes.
"Do you have an appointment, Cadet?" Levi snarls at me and I could swear my face turns into a mutated beetroot as I gulp and attempt to avert my eyes, keyword; attempt.
"N-no sir" if a mouse could stutter it would sound more human then me when I squeak out my answer to the Captains unwavering death stare.
"Then why the hell did you barge into my office without my permission?" His voice is monotone and his expression dark.
"Miss... you should probably l-leave..." An unfamiliar hushed voice whispers in my ear and I can feel two hands wrap around my waist and start to pull me away from Levi. I'm being pulled further and further away from the captain and towards the doorway.
'but I have a question to ask him!' The realization hits me and I begin to struggle as Levi clenches his fists and looks away from my retreating body.
"Levi! Wait!" I manage to shove out of the blonde man's grasp and I run to Levi until I'm standing only a few feet away from him and I grab his hand while wrapping it in mine.
I can feel Levi tense and I take a deep breath to calm my running nerves.
"L-Levi... I know that you d-don't want me here but I only have one q-question" I can feel my grip tightening as my throat begins to burn, I look down to the floor so that Levi won't see the tear that's threatening to escape.
Levi's fist un-clenches slightly and I take it as my queue to continue my question for the cold man.
"Why? Why d-did you leave? Why d-didn't you tell me your name? Why d-didn't you let me see you?..." By now I'm sure he can hear my sobbing voice but I don't care, I want to know why.
"You only asked for one question, hurry up and choose one, brat" Levi snaps at me and I flinch, feeling his cold stare burning through my soul.
I think for a moment to decide my question but I quickly find it and clear my throat quietly.
"What happened to us?" My voice is crystal clear and almost gives me the impression that I'm not actually nervous right now, that the floor isn't swaying underneath me, that there is no taste of dust in my mouth.
I almost persuaded myself that everything was going to be okay, But not quite.
I wait for Levi's answer but nothing comes, I pull away, shaking. I should've hoped for the worst.
-Levi's POV-
'How do I respond to her? I don't want to be the one that ends up hurting her, I don't want to be the one to lead her to her death. She's crying, but if I wipe away her tear then I'll just lead her on, and that would cause her to feel even more pain.'
My thoughts clash with my emotions as I look down at her tear-stained face while she pulls away, shaking.
'If I could just wipe away her tear then she would be clean and pure again' I glance up to see Armin standing in the doorway. 'He's her perfect man, she should be crying to him, not to me' I glare at the young boy and he quickly averts his eyes.
'Dammit, why did I have to talk to this girl so much? Why did I have to be impulsive and hold her in my arms? Why won't I hold her now?' My thoughts are quickly interrupted when (f/n) suddenly staggers backwards and kneels on the floor, heaving for air.
In a flash I'm kneeling beside her and supporting her fragile body. I press my hand onto her flushed forehead.
"she's burning up, she wasn't meant to get out of her bed" I find myself muttering under my breath and (f/n)'s (e/c) eyes flash up to meet mine with a small smile on her face and under the moonlight I could swear her eyes had stars inside them.
"Levi... Don't worry about me, I'm... fine" she gasps at me through thin, short, breaths and I glare in response.
"You're clearly sick, how dare you come in here with germs?" god-dammit, why the hell did I say that? I must sound like a constipated arse right now.
A light laugh from (f/n) and I whip my eyes back to hers just as she places a hand on my cheek.
"I'll be alright... b-believe in me Levi" She stammers out and I could swear that my blood froze.
I shake my head at her.
"No. Don't say that, please." I beg her but her eyes are already closed and her breaths have started evening out. 'She's asleep' .
I snap my eyes up to Armin and snarl at him.
"Get the fuck out brat" I hiss and he quickly nods his head, running out and shutting the doors behind him with a click, I look back at (f/n) as she sleeps peacefully and innocent on my arms.
Without realizing I find myself leaning down to her lips and quickly stop myself. If anytime, I'll kiss her when she's awake and once I know that she's safe.
Instead of her rosy lips I move my own, rough ones, to her forehead and press softly down.
'Sweet dreams my Mystery Girl'
