Odell
"Odell, over here." A reporter from Fox Sports called my name.
It was the second day of June's mandatory mini-camp and I was excited to be back in New York with my teammates.
Even though we were happy to have made the playoffs during last season, we were all still bitter about how the season ended. Had we made those catches, there was no telling how far we could have gone in the playoffs. I believed our team was good enough to make it to the Super Bowl in Houston, as long as our games were on Eli's good days.
I nodded towards the reporter to let him know to continue, I didn't care to try and remember names because during my press days I always saw so many new and different faces. They all had an agenda, to catch me up saying something crazy so that they could repeatedly loop my words on all of the news feeds. I wasn't about to give them that today.
I was happy to be back with my brothers, even though we hung out during the off-season, being on the field was a different energy altogether. We were all ready to start the season, I had revenge on my mind. This year I was going to silence all of my critics who believed that I don't focus enough on football.
Have they been paying attention? Football is my life!
I just happen to enjoy playing the game and like to have fun while I'm doing it. That's why I dance, dress the way I do, hang out with people from all backgrounds- I am enjoying everything that this life has to offer.
After all we only get one right?
I intend to continue to live mine with no regrets and in that same vein it was the reason I was going after Danielle.
"Odell, are you going to have anymore yacht parties before a playoff game?" The smart-ass reporter tried to ask with a smirk.
Two could play this game.
I bent my head down to the mic. "Absolutely." I told him without expanding or flinching.
The man began to stutter as if he wasn't expecting that answer.
They really thought they boxed me in a hole and that I was going to stop being me because I had a bad playoff game?
"But...uh...all the backlash you received from fans and the media, why would you think that is still a good idea?"
"It's rather simple actually, Odell Beckham Jr. is gonna do what Odell Beckham Jr. wants!"
The stunned media just looked at me in shock and then even more hands flew up.
This was going to be a long afternoon. I thought to myself. Bring it on because I can do this shit all day.
Once I was finally done with media interviews I ran into my teammate Victor Cruz as he was also walking to his car.
"They still askin' you about that boat party too?" Victor asked as I began to check my phone for new messages.
"Muthafuckas jus don' know when to leave well enough alone." I said shaking my head, "dat shit happened last season!"
