Melanie came over as promised, we grew more comfortable with each other. She ended up coming over every day and we would do something different. We would watch movies, eat pizza, hang around and talk. If she didn't have time to come over I would go with her into town to help her with wedding things.
Today I was going with her to help her with flowers, it was only three days till her wedding and three more days to make her love me again.
Her mom was going to meet us at the shop her mom really liked me like how it was before, of course it took her a while to get use to me after I fought Nick in her front lawn.
"Okay Bruno which flowers look the best? The red roses or the white roses?"
She had a few in each hand, "why not both?"
"No because all the decorations are already a mixture of both I want just one color for the center piece."
"Wow you brides get very picky." she then hit me with the roses laughing, "Hey you still have to pay for those!"
"I hate you Bruno."
"You know you love me." I said giving her a face and she just grabbed the roses and walked away. I seen a book on the counter and I began going through it, it had every flower there was in this world.
"You know she's been very happy lately." Melanie's mother said to me bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Oh yes I bet she's really excited for her day to come. I'm happy for her, s-she really deserves it." I say looking down.
"Are you really?" She says lowering her head making me look up to her.
"Well yea. I mean I can't stop her from loving someone she's known half her life. She's happy, and that makes me happy. You should never get in the way of someone's happiness just because you don't agree. Y-you just have to go with it and watch them be happy." I stood there looking at her from the other side of the store, she was talking to a florist and she looked over at me and I smiled at her. She looked at the ground and smiled back at me and continued talking to her.
"She's never smiled like that to Nick." She said giving me a side eye smiling.
"What?" I quickly look at her.
"Just know that this wedding isn't why she's been so happy." she gave me one last smile and walked away towards Melanie. I took in her words and started to think, maybe Melanie is starting to love me again.
"Are you finding everything okay sir?"
"Uh yea im here with a friend she-" I turned around to the lady, "oh no what do you want?"
"Surpise!" Rita said throwing her hands up smiling.
"Why are you here?"
"Just checking up on you."
"Why?" I said annoyed.
"Because you only have three days left Bruno."
"I know, I know."
"Then stop being a little bitch and make a move on her." she hit my shoulder and pointed towards Melanie.
"Hey love takes time!"
"Whatever you say. Oh! Tell her you would catch a grenade for her!" I looked back at her and she had this huge smile. "Or tell her she's perfect just the way she is, that one always works!"
"Why are you bothering me?"
"Because it's so fun to make you mad. Plus I've always wanted to be a florist!" she said as she touched her flower crown on her head. It had black flowers that looked to be dead. I looked down at her usual dark black clothing and her long black hair is a side braid, of course are charm was still there.
"Yea no one's going to want to buy flowers from you."
"Hey Bruno," Melanie said touching my shoulder and stood next to me. "Excuse me ma'am do you have these but in red?"
"Oh yes of course!" Rita turned around grabbing a white box off a shelf behind her and handing them to her. I was so confused to why Mel walked right up to her but when Rita walked past a tall mirror I saw her reflection and she looked different. She was this women with blonde hair, darker skin tone, a purple shirt with the flower shop logo and white shorts. I looked back to Rita and she winked to me, Melanie opened the box and smiled.
"These are perfect! What do you think Bruno?"
"Yes Melanie they are."
"Great I'll go head and take these!"
"Alright ma'am I'll go ahead and check you out."
"Okay thank you!"
I still gave Rita a look and she just had the biggest smile.
After walking out the store with millions of boxes and dropped them off at where the wedding was going to be held we headed back to my house while her mom went home.
"Ugh so much work for this one day!" Melanie said jumping on to the couch.
"Don't worry it will all be over soon." I sat next to her rubbing her head.
"Ooo yes rub my head!" she grabbed a pillow and put it on my legs so she could lay down. I giggled at her action then continued rubbing her head. "I loved when my-"
"Dad would do this to you when you were younger."
"Y-yea. How did you know?" She said opening her eyes to look at me.
"Just a guess."
"Oh well yea." we sat there in silence as I just ran my fingers through her long brown hair.
"Hey Bruno?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I show you something tomorrow?"
"Yeah, what is it?" she sat up to look at me.
"It's something that I've had with me for awhile and I want you to have them."
"Uh okay?"
"Its nothing bad it's just I can't have them with me anymore."
"Okay."
"Well I'll see you tomorrow then, I should get going before Nick calls."
"Alright see you later sunshine."
Melanie stopped in the middle of walking to the door and looked back at me.
"W-what did you call me?"
"Sunshine."
"Why did you call me that?"
"Because you are my sunshine. You know, you are my sunshine my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are grey you never know dear how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away." I finished singing and smiled to her.
She looked up to me and gave me a shy smile, "I'll see you tomorrow Peter." She quickly hid behind her hair turning around. She closed the door and drove home. Tomorrow was going to be the day I make my move, this will be my last chance.
