A few weeks later
I'm finally home! It feels so good to sleep in my bed with Melanie by my side again. We still keep in touch with Tony and Sonia and I offered to pay for all their college tuition for all their help.

My birthday was coming up in a week Melanie has been constantly teasing me that she has a big surprise for me.

"Come on Mel just give me a hint! I'm so slow to figure it out anyways."

"No you have to wait till your birthday." She said as she moved Talia's hair out the way as she ate her mashed potatoes.

I looked over to Preston seeing him all finished and raised his plate up to me, "more pwease!"

I smiled to him, "sure buddy." I put some more food on his plate and looked to Melanie wiping off his face. She then sat down eating off her plate and noticed me looking at her.

"What did I say about you looking at me while I eat?"

I laughed and walked back giving Preston his plate and sat next to him looking across the table to her. "I just missed this." I raising both my hands up. "I missed these nights when it's just us here, eating dinner and just being together."

She smiled to me not knowing what to say. "I love you too Peter."

"Forever?"

"Forever."

As I grabbed the dishes cleaning them Melanie grabbed the kids to take them a shower then bed. Once I finished the dishes I walked threw the sliding door leading to the back yard and sat in a lawn chair looking up at the sky seeing it was a full moon and how I'm not feeling any pain. After I was taken I haven't been affected by the full moons. I pulled out a cigarette burning the end with my lighter taking in a long drag, I've missed smoking.

As I continued to finish my cigarette I used my hearing listening to the twins laugh as they played in the water as Melanie cleaned them.

I threw the butt to the side and stood up heading back inside. As I reached for the door I sharp pain hit me in my chest. "Ahh!" I stumbled trying to keep my balance knocking over a plant. I breathed quickly holding my chest, it felt had someone was pressing down on me then stabbed me with a giant knife multiple times, then suddenly the pain disappeared. I looked around still breathing heavy. "What the hell." I ran my fingers through my curls siting back down trying to gather myself before going back inside. I looked up at the moon one more time as clouds start to cover it and seen lighting in the distance. I took a deep breath and walked back in setting the alarm system and making sure everything was locked. I walked past the bathroom seeing it empty and followed Melanie's voice as she sang them to sleep. I stood at the door looking in the small crack as she rubbed their heads.

"I'll never let go, never say goodbye...you know you can't count on me like 1, 2, 3, I'll be there.

And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 you'll be there.

'Cause that's what friends are suppose to do oh yea.

You can count on me because I can count on you..." she kissed their heads and rubbed Geronimo's head as he laid by Talia's feet. I opened the door letting her out and then looked at the twins once more before closing it. We walked back to the room getting ready for bed.
