Nicole's P.O.V
After Preston's parents left I stood there awkwardly. I looked around seeing where to put this but there was so many balloons and gifts. I put the bear on the table but caused it to knock down a plastic cup.

"Oh crap!" I tried to catch it but it fell causing it to bounce around. It had a little juice in it and I quickly tried to clean it up.

"Nicole?" I looked up seeing Preston's eyes open.

"Oh hey, I'm sorry if I woke you."

"No it's fine." He slowly picked up his hand to move he's mask as I pulled up a chair next to him.

"How you feeling?" What a stupid question! This boy just got stabbed by a school supply.

"Okay I guess, no one will tell me what happened."

"Wait, you don't remember what happened?" He looked away from me as if he was trying to remember and then back to me.

"N-no? Will you tell me?"

"I don't know. If they never told you then maybe I shouldn't either."

"Please." He put his hand on mine making me smile. I held his hand back taking in a deep breath.

"Eli was just being stupid, he always has to start something." I cleared my throat remembering what happened that morning. "We were walking to class and Eli came up to you and started saying things."

"Like what?"

"At Anthony's party he says he saw your eyes glow, Yea I know weird. Well he was saying you weren't human and when we didn't listen he started to yell it and got everyone's attention. I grabbed your hand to keep walking because he started talking about me."

"What he say?"

"That I was a slut and just dumb things like that." I felt his body tense up knowing he was getting mad. "Preston it's fine he was just trying to get you mad, and he knew he could when he would say things like that about me. Well you ignored him and he didn't like that so he got in your face, that's when you pushed him out the way and everyone started to come around us. Next thing I know you guys are fighting, I tried to pull you guys apart but I heard someone scream..." I took a second to calm my self thinking of that horrible moment. "When I looked down I had blood on my hands...the school security pulled off Eli and you w-were on the floor c-covered in blood." I let tears fall not being able to hold them back. "I thought you were going to die." Preston put his hand up to my face using his thumb to wipe my eyes.

"I'm so sorry you were put through something like that."

"But you're okay now, that's all that matters. Eli was arrested of course so we don't have to worry about him." I held his hand on my face feeling better.

"I like your ballon." He said smiling. Ugh that smile.

"Yea I think I brought the best gift." I said giggling as I fixed my self up.

"You didn't have to bring anything, just you being here is a gift it's self." I blushed feeling my face get warm.

We looked into each other's eyes for a few seconds and I couldn't help but feel safe. I've had a crush on him for so long but I never seen myself with him, he was the best player on the football team, he could sing, all the girls wanted him. I could never compete with them.

"Nicole?"

"Yea?"

"Thank you for being here and staying by my side."

"Yea of course Preston, you always been there for me." We continued looking into each other's eyes and I slowly moved towards him. This is it Nicole you're finally going to kiss this man after so many years! I slowly closed my eyes feeling my heart about to pop out of my chest.

"Hello Mr Hernandez." A nurse came in the door making me move back. You couldn't wait 5 more seconds women! "I'm sorry ma'am, visiting hours are over."

"Oh I'm sorry I was just saying bye." Damn it!

"So I'll see you tomorrow?" He said to me.

"Yeah same time?"

"Okay, maybe a little more earlier."

"Yes I will for sure." The nurse put his mask back on as I got up and headed out the door. I smiled big even though I didn't get my kiss I still couldn't help but smile. I headed down the hall seeing his parents talking, almost like they were arguing. I couldn't walk around that's the only way to the main lobby. They noticed me and stopped. I slowly walked towards them feeling the tension.

"How was Preston?" His mom asked.

"He is doing fine he woke up and we talked but a nurse kicked me out but it's okay I'll just come back tomorrow."

"A nurse?"

"Yea she said visiting hours were over."

"No nurse or doctor is suppose to see him until the morning and visiting hours aren't over until another hour..." she said drifting off her sentence looking at Preston's dad then back down the hall.

"Mrs Hernandez?" I asked confused.

"Oh no." She began running while Mr. Hernandez followed.

"Wait what happened?" I said running behind them. They ran through the door to his room and we stood there looking at an empty bed.

"Preston?" She looked around the room frantically. "No not my baby! Preston!" Mr Hernandez ran out the room calling for security and I stood there in shock.

She kneeled down by the bed crying as I slowly walked to her trying to comfort her.

"Who would do this?"
