The ride back to the office was quiet. Other than the beep sound from his phone signaling a mail has been received, Mr. Salvestro was absolutely quiet. Man, that person was a workaholic. Even when he's not in his office, he works. Damn!
Sometime later, we reached the building. Mr. Salvestro took his personal elevator while I took the one that everyone uses. When I reached my floor, I saw Mia talking excitingly to Jackson and when she saw me, she ran to me and hugged me.
"Guess what?" She grinned.
"What?" I asked, getting excited by her enthusiasm.
"I got a promotion." She nearly yelled.
"What?! Congratulations." I told her, hugging her tightly. "I'm so proud of you."
"Thank you so much. I can't believe this. I've been promoted from receptionist to administrative officer." She explained, her face glowing with happiness.
"So, where will you be working?" I asked.
"Here, itself. They haven't decided yet where will I go." She explained.
"Okay. Congratulations once again."
"Well, ladies, get ready tonight because we'll be celebrating Mia's promotion." Jackson came by us, wrapping an arm around Mia's shoulders.
"As long as you're paying I don't have any issues." Mia said, making Jackson raise an eyebrow at her.
"Fine." Jackson gave up. I laughed at them. I was about to say something but Mr. Salvestro's door opened, revealing the arrogant ass himself shooting me a pointed look. Mia quickly ran to her workstation and grabbed her phone that was not ringing and pretended to talk, while Jackson walked towards the elevator.
Wow, I have great friends. Note the sarcasm!
"In my office." He snapped going back inside. I shot a glare at Mia and she mouthed sorry at me.
I got in and closed the door. "I don't pay you to chat, Miss Wilson." He snapped at me.
"I'm sorry, Sir." I said. Mr. Salvestro sighed heavily before handing me a document.
"Go to the ninth floor and give document to Mr. Charles." I was about to take the document when the long sleeve of his suit reminded me that I was still wearing it.
Before taking the document, I started to take out the suit. "What are you doing?" Mr. Salvestro questioned looking impatiently at me.
"I'm returning you your suit." I told him.
"Return me when you come back. Now just do what I told you. And I want you back in five minutes." He authoritatively commanded. I nodded and took the document from him and walked out of his office.
I took the elevator and pressed number nine. After a while, I reached my destination and began to look for Mr. Charles. However, what really annoyed me was the fact that everyone was looking at me as if I was something weird and not to mention the gossip and snickers that I could hear.
"May I help you?" I heard a male voice say. I turned towards the sound and saw a man in his mid-thirties looking expectantly at me. He had slightly wrinkled skin and blonde hair neatly combed. However, the unsettling thing about that man was his look. He gazed at me from up and down as if I was some piece of meat.
"Um, I'm looking for Mr. Charles." I told him, ignoring the voice in my head that was warning me to get away from this weird person. "I have to give him this document."
"I am Mr. Charles." He moved his hand towards me. I reluctantly placed my hand in his for a shake hand. Even that little physical touch did something bad to me. "You have really soft hands." He smiled at me.
