I couldn't sleep at all last. All I did was toss and turn as if I was a coin. My mind was stuck on what would happen today.
I nervously put on my pair of jeans and wore my white t-shirt. It was already eight and I had to reach there at nine. I quickly got out, locked the door and made my way to Salvestro Corporation. I took the cab during the entire ride all I could think was what will happen.
Unfortunately, the ride was short and in a matter of minutes I reached there. I took a deep breath and entered the sophisticated office. I walked towards the reception and a blonde lady looked up at me, faking a smile.
"Um, hello," I waved at her nervously, "I was asked to come here today." I told her putting a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Of course, you're Miss Wilson," She beamed at me which I personally think was way too artificial. I think they are trained how to be pretentious here. "Please go to the top floor." She told make, gesturing towards the elevator.
I nodded at her and made my way towards the elevator and pressed number twenty eight. Woah, this was a huge building.
After having waited for what seemed an eternity, the elevator arrived and I got inside. Thank God, it was empty. I hate elevators full of people.
After a while, I reached my destination and got out of the elevator. I remember, Mr. Salvestro had interviewed me in another office yesterday in another floor. I noticed there was another receptionist on this floor. When she saw me, smiled at me. A genuine smile. She seemed to have the same age as me or perhaps a few years older. With her pencil skirt, her fitted white shirt and impeccable chignon and make up, she looked absolutely flawless. What is it with everyone looking gorgeous here?
"Hi, you must be Miss Wilson," She said in a warm voice. I nodded at her. "Hi, I'm Mia, Mr. Salvestro's receptionist."
"Hi, Mia," I said shyly. She chuckled at me.
"Hey, there's no need to be nervous." Mia said soothingly. "You go inside Mr. Salvestro's office. He'll come shortly." I nodded at her and made my way to the office. I didn't bother to knock since there was no one inside.
My mouth literally was left opened at the sight in front of me. This was not an office. It seemed like it was an art gallery. Behind Mr. Salvestro's office chair were three canvasses, all breathtaking. If I thought the office in which I was in yesterday was sophisticated, this was ten or twenty times more classy and elegant. Thousands of dollars must have spent in the decoration of this office.
On either side of his desk was a leather couch. It seemed so comfortable compared to my second hand couch back home.
"Like it, Miss Wilson?" I jumped at the sound of the voice. I turned towards the voice and saw Mr. Salvestro looking amusingly at me.
"Yeah, it's very nice." I complimented him shyly.
"Please take a seat, Miss Wilson." Mr. Salvestro ordered walking to the other side of the desk and took a seat in the long chair. "Do you know why you're here, Miss Wilson?" Mr. Salvestro asked once I was seated.
"Um, because you're mad at me?" My answer seemed more like a question to me. Mr. Salvestro looked blankly at me before chuckling.
"No, I'm not mad at you." He said, making me surprised.
"But—" He didn't let me go on with my question.
"You're here because you've got the job." He stated. What?!
I looked at him with wide eyes. "Wh-what?" I stuttered.
"Yes. You passed the test." He said. I couldn't understand a word he was saying even if it was in English.
