Chapter Nine

**Riley’s POV**

I don’t know why but I feel incredibly nervous about going home. The whole drive I kept playing with my fingers trying not to think about what happened last night. I know he can’t hurt me as he’s in jail but I’m still freaked out. I thought we were past this.

**Jai’s POV**

I watched Riley as we drove home, she seemed worried she kept playing with her fingers. She has hardly spoken since the hospital. I know she hasn’t slept and she’s hardly eaten. I guess she’s freaked out, its understandable I’m just going to keep my eye on her for the next few days.

**Riley’s POV**

We pulled up the drive and got out of the car. I immediately noticed that the window had been fixed. I stood looking at the house before Luke said “C’mon Riley” which snapped me out of my daze. I made my way into the house, I immediately noticed that the house had been cleaned, the blood was gone. I went to my room and unpacked, I decided to change my bedding and re-organise a few things. By the time, I had finished I felt like going for a walk. I asked Beau to come with me, which he did.

While walking, Beau kept making sure I was alright and that I wasn’t too sore or tired. Other than those questions, we walked in silence; it wasn’t awkward, it was a comfortable silence.

**Beau’s POV**

We got home and I noticed Riley was nervous. She went straight to her room to unpack. It was a few hours later when she knocked on my door.

“Beau, do you want to come for a walk with me?” she asked,

“Yeah sure” I said.

I didn’t want her to be alone at the moment. We left the house and started walking, every so often I made sure she wasn’t too tired or sore; the walk was pretty silent, I wanted to ask her questions but I didn’t want to push her so I just left it. I guess she will talk when she’s ready.

We’d been walking for a while when we came to the local shops. I watched Riley’s face change as she stopped walking. She quickly put her head down and said “lets go home”. I looked around and that’s when I saw what Riley had seen.

**Riley’s POV**

Beau and I reached the shops. I looked at a sign outside a shop with the front page of the newspaper stuck to it; it had a photo of me in the ambulance and Ben being put in the police car side by side. I quickly put my head down and said “lets go home”. I turned around and started walking towards home. I heard Beau say “Riley, its okay”, I stopped and faced him, I replied “no it’s not Beau, everybody knows. It’s not fair”, then I asked “Can we just go home please?”. Beau just looked at me and nodded. We walked home slowly in silence.

I spent the rest of the day in my room; drawing and listening to music, until I realised it was eleven o’clock. I got ready for bed and said night to everyone. I curled up in bed and drifted off to sleep only to start having nightmares. I kept reliving last night over in my head.
