Chapter Fifteen
*ONE WEEK LATER*
**Riley’s POV**
Today is the day. The day I have to relive everything again; I have to get up in front of a court and tell them what he did. I have to face him. I’m not sure what is making me more nervous, reliving it or facing it.
I walked into the courthouse alongside Mum, Nonna, Nonno, Beau, Luke and Jai, I sat outside the courtroom waiting till I was called to the stand. As I walked in to the courtroom to the stand and was sworn in, I saw Ben for the first time since the night he attacked me, I felt myself begin to panic but managed to stay calm enough to get through my testimony. I managed to get through it and as soon as I was finished, I left the courthouse with Beau, Luke and Jai. Mum, Nonna and Nonno all stayed to hear the verdict, I would have stayed but I couldn’t stand to be in that room with Ben any longer.
Beau, Luke, Jai and I all went home and got changed. I started to draw until Mum got home a few hours later. We sat down as Mum told us the verdict, he was sentenced to four years imprisonment. Even though he was going to jail, it didn’t change my mind.
