Kaelyn Campbell
At school. I felt a change in the way people looked at me. They already looked at me like they were disgusted, but now...
They didn't even try to hide their stares, and the whispering was louder than ever.
"Bestie what popping?" Jordan asked.
"I'm about to pop somebody daughter because all of these females looking at me like they have a problem." I stated.
The whole room got quiet. They all looked at me. I smiled.
"Kae calm down man. You haven't been worried about these females, so what's changed?" Elijah asked. I sighed.
"I went home again." I said.
"You just decided to go?" Elijah asked. I shook my head.
"Daniel took me. Keshion texted me and told me that Daniel was bringing me to meet him. We waited for a while, somebody knocked, they gave him a letter and then he took me home. He refused to show me the letter though." I explained.
"What's going on?" Elijah asked.
"I can't really explain that to you right now." I said.
"How about I take you to lunch, and we can talk then?" Elijah offered.
"Boy did you forget you have classes?" I asked.
"Did you forget I don't care about these classes?" He asked. I laughed.
--
"You're really beautiful Kaelyn, and I'm not just saying that." Elijah said. I smiled.
"I know."
He laughed.
"You know I'm going to make you mine right?" He asked. I sighed.
"Dan-" The door bell rang, cutting me off and I cursed under my breath. I almost called him Daniel.
"Kaelyn. What's up?" Daniel smiled as soon as I opened the door. He walked in. "Keshion is coming in behind me so leave it open." He sat on the couch beside Elijah and grabbed the remote.
Sure enough, Keshion came in. He hugged me at the door and took a seat too. I closed the door and sat down beside Elijah.
"What brings you two by here?" I asked them.
"There's a due date." Keshion told me.
"Kain wants the money by next week." Daniel said.
"We have enough to pay him, why can't we keep this simple?" I asked.
"It's not simple anymore. He pulled out the envelope I knew Daniel had given him.
"You sure you want ole buddy seeing this?" Daniel asked Keshion. He was referring to Elijah. Keshion looked at me for an answer.
"He's my best friend. I trust him with my life." I nodded, so Keshion proceeded.
He pulled out a phone and a note this time."Next week. See you soon. P.S. I attached a little motivation.
Keshion handed me the phone a video was pulled up. I pressed play. I instantly saw my mom sitting on a mattress on the floor. She looked up at the camera.
"Crack is one hell of a drug." The camera man laughed. My mom looked confused. She ran her finger through her nappy hair, stoping midway to scratch.
"Next Week." He said and the video ended.
"Okay. I don't give a flying fuck what he do with her." I told Keshion. He paused for a second, and my heart dropped in fear. I thought he was about to swing on me.
"Only God or Jesus himself just saved you from getting knocked out right then." He told me.
"She ain't look like she didn't wanna be there. He probably doping her up. She might be happy, damn." I said.
"No. I'm fucking tired of you putting her down. She's our fucking mother." He said.
"She's a mother that left us when we were barely old enough to understand why. She didn't even come to dad's funeral. Excuse me for not giving a damn about what the fuck happens to her." I spat.
"You don't get to be mad at her for being imperfect. I'm fucking embarrassed that half the state and more has seen my sister damn near naked, but am I shutting you out? Am I talking down to you like the slutty ass hoe I see whenever I hear the name Diamond?" He yelled.
Tears formed in my eyes.
"Leave." I said through gritted teeth.
"Kae... I didn't mean it like-"
"Get the fuck out of my house!" I yelled. I walked into my room, slamming the door. A few minutes went by. My door opened, and Elijah walked in.
He pulled me to him. I just starred for a while.
"Elijah." I said.
"Yes baby girl?"
"The Fishers had a son." I said.
"The Fishers?" He asked confused.
"My foster parents. They had a son. He was around Keshion's age." I said.
"Okay..." Elijah said. I felt a lump in my throat and I could barely get the next words out.
"He was the last person who called me a slutty ass hoe and...
"When are you leaving?" I asked Lyon. He had became something like a brother to me since I started staying with the Fishers. I hated his parents. They treated me like shit, and he barely got anything better, but we were in it together. He was leaving for college, and the thought of being alone here with his parents nauseated me.
"Tomorrow." He sighed.
"Lyonnnnn," I whined. "Why are you just now telling me?"
"I didn't want to have to think about it, but damn. This is real. I'm leaving." He smiled. I had to smile too at the happiness that radiated off of him.
I pulled him into a hug.
"Don't forget the kid. I'll be routing for you. I hope you do big things." I encourage. He pulled away from the hug looking me in the eyes.
He leaned in for a kiss, and I moved. I was so surprised. I didn't even know that he thought of me that way.
"What was that?" He ordered. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"That's what I should be asking you." I uttered.
"I know you feel it. We have to act on this chemistry before I go, or we'll never know." He said.
"What Chemistry?" I asked. He looked at me completely shocked.
"We're in love." he said to me. I slowly got up, heading for the door before I said something that would destroy our friendship.
He stood up too, gripping my wrist.
"Just lay back and let me fuck you slutty ass hoe. Half of Atlanta know what you got to offer Diamond." He snarled throwing me onto the bed. My eyes grew wide. He got on top of me, and I froze, closing my eyes.
For a second all I could think was: I wish Keshion was here.
He pulled down my pants and tears fell down my eyes, my body was still frozen, but my mind yelled a million things a second. I heard a gasp, and we both looked at the door where Mrs. Fisher stood.
