Dylan's POV: Earlier That Same Evening

I run as fast as my legs will carry me. Even when I start to lose feeling, and realize they have turned numb, I run faster. The woods always make me feel so alive. My wolf senses are maximized and I feel free. My werewolf pack have claimed these woods for ourselves so when we get told there are uninvited visitors, we take it very seriously. Once I was informed that there were rogues on my territory, I gathered a select few members of my pack and took off.

"Alpha, no sign of them." My beta and twin brother Carson says through our mind link.

"We need to keep searching, you said there were at least five of them. We cannot have them on our land, especially with the party just hours away." I say back.

"But Dylan-"

"That's enough!I yell, using my Alpha voice that will undoubtedly get him to agree.

As we keep running, I can't help but wonder if I will find my mate tonight. My brothers and I host a party every summer, hoping to find our mates. I can't help but wonder why mine has never stepped forward. Since I am Alpha of the Night Pack,  when I howl, signaling to my pack where I am, my mate should immediately reply. As I consider this, I can't help but think that maybe she hasn't turned yet.

"I can't wait to see Hilary tonight," my other beta, and man-slut of a brother, Max, says. There's no denying that Hilary is hot, I have had first-hand experiences many times when I was in the mood. Even though she can be quite an annoying bitch.

"Dibs!" I call.

"Bro! No way, you've already had her before! Give someone else a chan-" Max's perverted thoughts are cut off by Carson's voice.

"Dad says that they are off our territory and have proceeded to the Moonshine Packhouse."

"Alright, send down some boys to check on the women and children, then let's get this party set up!" I announce.

Once we get everyone checked to be sure they are all safe, my brother's and I head down to the log cabin to prepare for the party. We have the whole nine yards, a killer DJ is coming and we have the bar set up with every beverage imaginable. The whole space has been turned into a dance floor, and we covered the entire ceiling in strobe lights. Tonight will be killer!

"OK so, you do know that I'm getting Hilary tonight, right?" Max asks. I smirk as a reply.

"You two amaze me, are you sure that you aren't the twins here? Why do you two constantly throw yourselves at any willing girl? Don't you want to wait for your mate so you can give them all of you? Don't you want to wait for that one person that will mean the world to-" I zone out about halfway through Carson's sappy speech. Carson always was the sweet and caring one, never doing anything out of line, he has saved my ass a good amount of times. This always makes me wonder why the elders chose me to be Alpha and not him. He makes a valid point though, we are complete opposites,  and Max and I get mistaken for twins all the time just based upon our personalities.

"Who needs a mate," says Max, "I'm gonna stay a single man forever, that way I can taste every flavor out there."

"No worries, at the rate your going, you will." I state, my classic smirk still glued to my face.

"No shit! I mean look at these abs! They put Taylor Lautner to shame!" Max lifts up his shirt and rubs his eight-pack. It's true, almost all the members of the pack have amazing bodies since we have a killer gym and we always need to be in shape for running and fighting, if necessary.

"If I were a chick, I'd do me." Max says.

"No way! If I were a chick I would completely steer clear of you! Those eyes freak the shit out of me." I say.

"Well if I were a chick, I wouldn't like you either! I mean really! Look at your hair, it's as black as your soul!"

"Our hair is the same color!" I retort.

"But on me it works!" Max says, then strikes a pose I assume he finds appealing, but really looks like he got kicked in the stomach and punched in the face, while his one leg sticks up like a flamingo.

"If I were a chick I wouldn't come near you with fifty foot pole!" I exclaim.

"Well if I were a chick-" Max starts to say, only to be cut off by Carson who yells at the top of his lungs, "IF I WERE A CHICK I WOULD STILL FIND YOU TWO ANNOYING AS HELL!" Max and I both mutter curses under our breaths, since our hearing is already sensitive as it is without someone screaming at us. Carson looks between us a few times then says something along the lines of, ".....I can't believe you two aren't twins." Carson and Max set up the ping pong table in the cabin and I decide that I should probably go check on the pack.

"I'm going to go do a run over the territory to be sure we didn't miss anything. I will give you a howl once I am on my way back OK? Try not to miss my sexy ass too much." I walk out, dramatically as always. I'm not expecting a reply but I hear Carson mutter,

"Drama queen..."

Once I had gone around the whole of our territory, and stop by at the packhouse to let the families know our findings on the rogues, I start heading back to the cabin. On my way I let out a howl to let my brother's know I'm coming. I raise a paw to start walking back when I hear the most beautiful sound I have ever heard in my life. I hear a howl, a female voice and I know immediately that my mate is coming to my party. I cannot contain my wolf as he howls in joy over the thought of finally finding our other half.

I take my time returning to the cabin, trying to stretch my legs as much as possible before the party with the sounds of cars pulling up, and excited voices filling the air. One particular car though, makes me stop dead in my tracks when I hear a velvet-smooth gorgeous voice. I knew what was happening, even without my wolf screaming, "MATE! MATE! MATE!" I smell them come onto my land and, without assuming that she will be alarmed, I run to the edge of the woods to wait for her.

I lose my breath when I see her. I have never, ever, ever seen such a more perfect and beautiful being in my life, even through the distance I can make out her flawless features. Subconsciously notice another girl in the driver's seat but I can't turn away. She has yet to look me in the eye and my wolf isn't too happy with being ignored, so I do the only thing I can think of doing. I open my jaw and let out a howl. Immediately both girls turn towards me and when our eyes meet, my cells come alive and I become so overjoyed that I can barely contain myself. One worrying thought at the back of my mind jolts me out of my state, because I automatically smell werewolf, who I know is the driver, and I also catch something off about my Angel. She smells as though she is human, but she also has werewolf aroma around her, which confuses me beyond belief.

I am just about to shift and run to her car when Carson's worried voice breaks through my mind,

"I know you're probably busy Alpha, but dad has called a pack meeting a few minutes ago and everyone is wondering where you are. I assume since you blocked us out, the reason is a good one but you need to come here now. You are our soon to be Alpha, but dad is still currently in power and he's threatening to cancel the party."  I take one last look at the most precious thing in my life, and run to the packhouse, knowing full well that this will not be the last time we meet. Besides, what the Alpha wants, the Alpha gets.
