Author's Note: There's a huge timeskip in the story and for fucks sake I'm sorry 'cause I hate that but it's for a reason. You'll see why, enjoy~!

Alfred's POV

We had been married for a year, it was crazy to think about. Who would've thought that we'd actually stay married for a full year?
And we have to last forever?
It's hectic enough at one year, I can't do this forever dammit.

And what I mean by hectic? Well.. I guess we'll explain.

Arthur and Alfred were sitting in the waiting room, squeezing each other's hands, Arthur trembled.
"Hey hey..it's going to be okay it's going to be okay.." Alfred mumbled to his partner, wrapping an arm around Arthur.

"I don't know what I'll do if anything happens Alfred..I-I'm not ready!"
Alfred nodded his head, "I know..Baby I know, just think positive right now for me okay?"

Arthur nodded his head slowly, laying his head on Alfred's shoulder.
"Who's here for Elizabeth Kirkland?" A nurse asked, looking around the nearly empty lobby.

Arthur, Peter, and Alfred all looked up, their eyes pleaded.
"Yes! That's us!" Arthur jumped up, grabbing the young woman's hand, "Please Love you have to tell me what's going on with my mum?!"

She nodded her head solemnly, "The doctor apologizes, she's going very soon. Would you like to say your goodbyes? We'll give you three your time with her, I must warn you she's asleep and...she's not going to be waking up."

"So she's dead?!" Peter whispered, he looked up at the nurse, tears threatening to spill.
"No, sir. She's...She's resting. But, you see the rest makes sure she won't wake up, but her heart is still beating. It's to keep her from being in pain."
"So she's on life support?" Alfred finally spoke, his voice cracked from barely talking the whole day they were at the hospital.
"You'd be correct, sir."

Alfred nodded his head and closed his eyes, having seen the same image before. Someone on life support, and it wasn't a pretty picture. So many chords and needles, so many tubes in so many places...it was mentally scarring.
Alfred turned towards Peter, "Look Kid you're only fifteen, you don't need to see her if you don't want to. She knows you love her so much-"

Peter cut Alfred off with a crisp punch to the face, a reflex. He looked down at Alfred, his eyes flared.
"Alfred, I love you. But don't you ever say I can't see my mother or I will drop you, don't be a bloody idiot," Peter hissed, turning his attention back at the shocked nurse. "So may us three see her now?" He said, as calm and collected as he could be.

Alfred got off the floor to Arthur's aid, clutching his bruising jaw. "Kid has a good fist...." He mumbled to his husband.

The nurse nodded to Peter and took the three up to Elizabeth's room.

It was exactly what Alfred described, Elizabeth had so many machines hooked up to her, tubes in the nose, catheter hooked up, IV drips, the whole set up. It shocked Peter and Arthur, they stood at the doorway with dropped jaws and tears staining their cheeks.

"That's our mother?" They whispered to the nurse, who just nodded her head and shut the door.
"Mama?" Alfred whispered, sitting next to her, grabbing her pale right hand.
Of course she didn't respond, Alfred squeezed her hand, his hands trembling in hers. "Please Mama..You gotta wake up, you have to.." Alfred mumbled, hitting the hospital bed out of anger.
