Arthur's POV

We had to go to the orphanage to go see the children, as the day where we got to take home a child came closer and closer.

And after many hardworking hours me and Alfred built a whole nursery for the new arrival. Which, pissed off Peter, although he was rarely home and commonly out with his girlfriend anyway. Little shit.

Alfred and I were so very proud of the room we created for our little girl, yes, we hadn't changed our minds about the gender that easy.
I constantly thought to myself everyday, are you ready? And although I wasn't..It was time to get what I'd always wanted, a child.

Alfred and I pulled into the house of children, or well, an orphanage, and stared at each other.
"You got this..?" Alfred stared at me, he knew I was panicky, what if we messed up and they didn't give us a child?
"No no... I mean, yea! I'm just nervous as always."

Alfred nodded, clutching the rest of our paperwork in his arms. "Let's do this baby." Alfred smiled, getting out of the car, leaving me to collect my breath.
"Breathe honey, breathe." Alfred said through the window, I flipped him off before realizing I was at a bloody orphanage and stopped what I was doing.

I got out of the car and grabbed Alfred's hand, shyly walking behind him when he walked in through the door.

"Hello Sir! ...And sir? You two must be Alfred and Arthur? Correct?" A clerk lady said, looking up from her computer screen.
"Yes m'am you would be correct. I'm Alfred Jones, and this is my husband Arthur Kirkland-Jones. We're looking for a daughter..? We've been here previously, and we said we'd bring our paperwork.." Alfred fumbled with the portfolio, before the lady reached over and grabbed it.

Idiot.

"Thank you sir, now let me just take you into this room and we can discuss this together." The woman pointed her finger towards a small room, with a light swinging on top of a large table. It looked like an interview room at the police station.
Not like I would know from experience.

She closed the door behind us when we had entered the room, she gestured for us to sit down.
The girl, who's name come to find out was Stacy, talked us through all the paperwork we had gone through, police records and all that. She then decided to discuss paperwork we had to do.

"So we're not getting our baby today as promised?" I looked up at the woman, clenching Alfred's hand from under the table.
"No no no! Sir, I mean, if you want to get it down now.. We can." She smiled, patting my other hand, which sat on the table, clenched in a fist.

"We'll sign it all today, right now even. All we want is to be holding our daughter." Alfred pleaded from next to me, I nodded my head in agreement.

"You two seem very eager to settle down and have children, so I brought the papers in already." Stacy hummed, putting a small stack of papers on the table.
"Go through all of that, sign accordingly and we can take you into the nursery because it said you wanted a toddler right?"

"Give or take a few years." Alfred mumbled.
"Our limit is three, but our minimum is a year and a half. Is that alright?" I asked while Alfred filled out the papers.

"No sir! Most couples do adopt around the age range so they can see the child grow up. It's a completely normal thing! Don't stress, we'll find the perfect girl for you two. And we all in the back kind of had an idea of who you're going to pick from the sounds of your guy's story." Stacy whispered to me, giggling.

I watched Alfred flip through paper after paper, reading and signing. His hand must've been hurting, even a little. It just had to be.
"Alfred honey I'll do the rest-"
"No."
"Okay okay."
