Asia's POV
We pulled into Lee Memorial and parked into the parking lot. There were hardly any cars except for employees and ambulances. It was dark out and nothing but lights from the parking lot and the hospital lit up the area.
"Alright let's go." Thomas said getting out of the minivan and locking it. He started walking cooly towards the entrance of the hospital. I slowly walked behind already getting creeped out but rushed on adrenaline. We had formed a plan in the car before getting here how we were going to get Zach out, and hopefully all would go just as planned. And nothing would go wrong like you see in the movies and the good guys have to think of a back up plan quickly before they get caught. Cause that would really fucking suck.
The doors of the main entrance slid open automatically and we strolled in. The area was deserted and there was only but a young lady who looked to be in her early 20s working the front desk. Thomas went up to her and smoothly but politely asked,
"We're looking for a patient. He's a very close friend - family of ours. Its hard to explain how he's family but he is. His name is Zach Lock." the lady nodded and typed at her computer not even objecting to Thomas. I was silent and waited trying not to fidget.
"He's on the sixth floor room 345." Thomas tilted his hat before we began walking to the elevators. I looked around the hospital before looking at Thomas.
"What if visiting hours are over?" I asked as we approached the elevators. Thomas chuckled a laugh and pressed the up triangle, waiting for the elevator to open.
"I got that covered. You just get angry frenchman out of there without being seen or noticed." I shook a little. How was I supposed to keep attention off of Zach when he was an impulsive ADHD kid, who couldn't stay quiet for the life of him, and couldn't ever sit still? Good lord this was going to fail. The elevator soon dinged and opened, letting us able to step in and press the number six. The tension and excitement filled the air as the elevator climbed up. I was feeling nervous about breaking out Zach. We were breaking the law.. I think. But it was for Ashley's sake.
The elevator opened up and Thomas, who had motioned for me to stay, went over to the nurse sitting at her desk.
"Room 345?" he asked. She looked up with a regrettable look.
"I'm sorry you'll have to come back. Visiting hours are over." she said before shuffling some papers. Thomas wasn't satisfied. And I've known Thomas long enough to know that when he wasn't satisfied, all hell would break loose.
"Look, I can't come back tomorrow I have to work all day just please let me see my friend." Thomas asked getting a very annoyed tone in his voice.
"I'm sorry sir those are the rules. You will have to come back when you have a chance to see him. Good-bye." She pointed towards the elevators.
"Listen here bitch" Thomas yelled. "I need to see my friend now. You better let me fucking see him before I get really angry." Thomas growled at her.
The lady picked up her phone and called for security. The male nurses who were passing by went up to him and told him to calm down. I sneakily crept off down the hall way while everyone was distracted. Of course his room was all the way at the end of the hallway.
I walked in to see Zach's hands strapped down to the bed. Seriously they restrained him?
Zach lifted his head surprised to see me. "Asia?"
"yeah it's me. I'm going to untie you, Thomas and I are here to bust you out."
"well it's about time you arrived." An ungrateful bastard as always.
"Hush we have to move fast." I got the restraints off. "Okay now go change your clothes and fast. We can't have you in a hospital gown." About a minute later Zach came out of the bathroom while still in the process of putting his shirt on. I took a look at the area he got stabbed in and flinched at the site.
I shrugged off the horrible thoughts running in my head. "Alright let's go."
We quickly got to the doorway and I noticed Thomas yelling at the nurses and security guards. The elevator was right down the hall and to the left. I hoped Zach and I could make it without getting noticed.
"C'mon lets go!" Zach hissed already going down the hall. Dumbass.
"Zach wait!" I said but it was a little late for that. I started following. I caught up to him and glanced back at Thomas. We weren't noticed yet.
"Can you at least act a little natural and not like an escapee? And try and hide your face so we dont get noticed!" I hissed. He grumbled but did as I asked. I took a swift glance and noticed Thomas causing an uproar.
"Keep away from me boy or I sware we gonna have some serious problems." he was saying to a white male nurse, who was in his late 20s. The nurse was tall, thin and very pale, but had muscle. He didn't take Thomas's threat seriously at all. I quickly hurried to the elevator with Zach and pressed the down triangle furiously.
"Look over there!" A female nurse shouted just as the elevator opened.
"Shit!" I mumbled and Zach and I scrambled in the elevator and closed it shut. I had barely noticed but saw Thomas start running in a direction away from the nurse's station. Hopefully it was to get down to the first floor and to the parking lot. And quickly.
"Hurry up, hurry up hurry up!" I said hopping up and down impatiently.
"Calm down Asia." Zach started, but I interrupted him.
"Are you insane to be telling me that? I just literally broke the law by busting you out of a hospital. I will not calm down." the elevator dinged open and we started at a slow but fast pace towards the door. But I noticed security guards giving us funny looks.
"Zach, run."
"What?" he asked.
"RUN!" I said and we bolted for the doors. Now in a case like this Im not the typical, atheltic runner. Because, well, my medical condition and two, I have zero stamina; but a bunch of security guards made my adrenaline rush quickly and my feet run fast, making me ignore the throbbing pain in my ribs and stomach. We ran through the parking lot, passing Thomas's car.
"Zig zag through the cars!" Zach shouted, clutching his side.He and I both knew his injury was getting to him. He was going to rip a stich. He'd be extremely lucky if not. I only nodded and we started zig zagging among the cars, starting to lose the security guards. We eventually ran past the entrance and a little downways the block and down a road and hid so any cops or people like that wouldn't find us. I collapsed on the ground my lungs gasping for air and hurting, not caring how dark it was while Zach sat down holding his side in pain but trying not to show it.
My phone then buzzed. It was Thomas calling.
"Hello?" I wheezed.
"Asia? Are you okay? Where are you?" I only could breathe heavily sounding like a creeper. I took in a gulp of air and replied.
"I dont know. We're down some road a little aways hiding in an alley way."
"Alright. I"ll come find you." we departed our good byes and we could only wait for Thomas's minivan to show up...hopefully. Time ticked and the night was passing by ever so slowly. It seemed like forever before a pair of bright car lights flickered down the alleyway. It was Thomas.
"Get in you two." Thomas said. I jumped in the front of the car and Zach got in the back. We slammed the car doors shut and Thomas started to speed off.
"We need to get out of this area. The cops know of Zach's escape and its gonna be sent out all over the news." I bit my finger nails and looked out the window. Wouldn't we get caught because of the minivan? Ugh my brain hurt so much. I looked at the time on my phone. It was 10:30. I was getting tired and I wanted to go home, but Ashley was out here somewhere in trouble by those psychopathic morons. I shuddered.
"We're gonna do a little more searching then I'm gonna take y'all home." Thomas said before going further deep into the fort myers area.
