michael had woken up before lane. she was still comfortably lying down in his arms. he admired everything about her as she slept. the way her nose would sometimes twitch, or a few strands of her hair would fall over her face, which lead michael to brush them away.
he felt so lucky to have had her. he thought back to the first time they spoke - the fact that he was so nervous and she was so sarcastic, neither of them knowing that something that felt so small could turn into their lives.
he thought back to the first skype call. they were both so terrified, michael was awestruck about her beauty, and damn he still was. he smiled at the memory.
"good morning," lane's tired voice greeted him. she rubbed her eyes before lazily smiling up at the boy she had managed to fall for in such a short time.
"good morning. did you sleep well?" michael asked her as she sat up. he felt a little disappointed as he liked the feeling of holding her. he felt as though she was really his.
"quite. did you?" she asked. michael said nothing but simply nodded, before lane's tired eyes became worried.
"what time is it?" she asked, jumping to her seat before sitting back down. standing so quickly made her feel dizzy.
"9:53," michael answered, looking at his brightly lit screen.
"shit! we have to leave," she raised her voice, worry filling her more and more as time went on. michael didn't understand why, but he went on with it anyway.
but they were too late. she was too late.
