~Summer~

Waking up to the warm summer sun was not the best thing in the world for an animal who preferred winter more than anything. Groaning as i sat up in bed, i noticed that some of my hair had molted into the pillow. The perks of being a mutant with wolfish qualities i guess. I sighed, this was the worse thing about summer. The season messed with my biology. It had been about 6 months since i started living here, 5 since the attack Alexa took out on the mutants. Thank god she didn't do any major damage, my guess was she was going to take out my friends first and then go for the rest of the school. I'm just glad everyone else was okay. Logan had seemed to get more friendlier with me, but there was still that hesitance about him. Like Alexa was still in control of my body, and she could strike any moment.

The Professor and I had made sure that Alexa wouldn't come back by clensing my mind of any traces she had left behind. There had been a few, which led to multiple sessions. Which are still going on, it's taking almost over 6 months to get Alexa out of my head but at least Logan would be able to trust me again, as crazy as it sounds. Currently, the school was on summer break, so no classes for anyone. Which also meant training sessions were in the day and not early in the morning. Which meant i could get more sleep, thank god Charles gave me some dream therapy so if Sabertooth ever did come back in my nightmares, i would be ready.

Since it was summer most of the student body had gone to spend their holidays with their non-mutant families. Which was good I guess...but I was left here all summer with nothing to do but hang out with the leftovers. Most of the teachers who lived here, Rogue, Bobby, Kurt, Pyro, Kitty and Ororo's nephew who hadn't arrived yet. Slipping out of bed, I scrambled for the brush that Xavier had ordered specially for me. It worked thank god, but all that came out of it was more hair falling out of my head. Jesus Christ this was hard. "Fuck me..." I mumbled. Slumping into myself I made my way over to my bedroom door after getting changed into my normal clothes. My dreamcatcher necklace hanging loosely from my neck. I hadn't taken it off in all the months I had spent here.

I missed my family and I would do anything to spend my summer with them, hunting for gazelle, talking around the circle as we ate, howling at the moon to our hearts content, pouring our feelings out towards the ones we had lost. But that couldn't happen, because Sabretooth would find them again, and that would ruin everything I had built for them just by staying away from their home. Where ever that was...but it meant I had to live with the pain of not seeing them. Ever. It was sad, but I had learnt to live with it. This was something I had to do, taking a deep breath, I stepped out of my room as if it were the hardest thing I had ever had to do.

Breakfast was mediocre at best, conversation was a low hum since not as many people were at the table. But Logan would snatch a piece of conversation and share it with me every now and then. Making it easier for me to settle into the summer, even though my hair looked like a bird's nest. "How 'bout we go for a swim guys?!" Kitty burst suddenly, disturbing the peace of the kitchen, making me and Logan sigh. "Yeah, why not?" Bobby agreed happily. I sunk further into my seat...if there was anything I hated more than Logan (when I first got here) it was water. That shit wouldn't come out of my fur for hours and don't even get my started on my human hair. It made it frizz up and make me look like a complete hippy. Not what I wanted to look like during the summer, thank you very much.

"Hazel? Do you wanna borrow one of my bikinis?" Ororo asked through my door. "NO thanks!" I shouted through my bed sheets. I refused to go swimming, this was bullshit. Not everyone wanted to go swimming, surely? "Are you sure? We're all gonna go outside in a bit so you can come and join us whenever?" she questioned my intentions. "Nope, I'm pretty sure I'm staying up here!" I yelled back at her. I then heard her retreating footsteps, making me grow unsure of my opinion. It couldn't have been that bad. Before I could step onto the floor and off of my bed, a horrid flashback of me drowning in lake water filled my senses, as if I was really there. "Nope, nope, nope nopity nope nope." I retreated back into my bed, making sure the bed quilt protected me from anything and everything.
