They were filled with forgotten photos of a different past. The first one was of me, mom and Eleanor in her normal form. She was a cat human hybrid, a Critterian Charles said, and she had her arms around my mother and me. My face was filled with laughter, my golden eyes creased to the point where they were almost shut with laughter. The next photo was of Eleanor and a new Critterian, a snow leopard one, this was who I presumed was Marcus. He had a wild look in his eye, a real Tarzan type, I decided. "This was..." I looked up to Charles who nodded at my unspoken question. More tears crowded into my eyes as I came to another photo. It was me in between two baby girls, two small Critterians, a pink cheetah and a blue lion cub. These were my friends. I was only one or two years older than them when they were born and I remembered them...I remembered them.
Molly and Mairi...how could I forget them? This was insane. "I remember them..." was all I could keep on saying. "I'm sorry Hazel, but I have no idea where they are right now, we just have to assume that they are living their lives happily in...well, space." Charles laughed at the end of his sentence, even though tears were spilling from his eyes now. I wiped them from the old man's face. He started to cry. "I remember when you were all just children, when times were simpler. I told their mother that I would enrol them into the school when they were older, so they wouldn't get judged for their inhuman intelligence, and she was so excited when I told her. Even though we would tell the other students that they were mutant twins, born with the same abilities." A sob got caught in the back of his throat as he said this. "Oh god, Charles..." I tried to comfort him by hugging him again. Now, I'm not really a huggy person, but this was important. The man I had known for being strong and a role model to mutants everywhere was letting down his walls in front of me...because he knew he could trust me.
Later, that evening. I found myself in the rec room by myself once again. Everyone had packed their bags during the day and left. Which left me, the teachers and a handful of other people living here over the holidays. I was flipping through the hundreds of photos in the photo album the professor had given to me. I refused to keep it at first, but he declined to keep it, saying he had flicked through it enough times and that after everything he had done to remove the memories, I deserved it more than he did. Which is a good point I suppose.
"Vhat are you doing here all alone?" Kurt asked, strolling into the living room, his tail whisking about playfully behind him. Obviously, I could tell he was up to something. "Looking through this...uh, photo album that the professor gave to me. Turns out...all the memories of my parents and spending time with the pack...isn't actually real." I shrugged whilst wiping a stray tear from my cheek. "Vhat? After all this time you have spent here...he never told you?" Kurt asked, clearly shocked at his teacher's lies. "It was to keep me safe...but the weird thing is? We've already met before this." I smiled, more tears in my eyes. God, why was I so emotional? I mean...I just found out my whole life as I know it is completely different compared to what I originally believed. "Vhat do you mean?" Kurt stepped forward, losing the playful demeanour in his eye as he sat down next to me on the couch. "I'll...I'll show you." I attempted, leaning forward as I placed my hands on Kurt's temples, like the professor had done earlier.
I then sent the flash of memory of me meeting Kurt, him being brought to the school by Raven. Kurt rushed away from my touch in even more shock. "I...I don't remember that..." was all he could say, clearly breathless. "Well...seems like the professor wiped me from existence...I mean, even Logan doesn't seem to remember me and he seems to remember everything seeing how old he is." I laughed, getting rid of the tears simultaneously. "Why did you come in here anyway?" I asked Kurt with a playful smirk plastered on my face. "Well...I know it's stupid and you don't feel like that way to me but..." Kurt then held a bow of mistletoe above and between us. I blushed at the sight of it. "See? That's vhy I knew it vasn't you vhen Alexa was here. 'cause she vasn't as flustered as you are right now..." Kurt explained briefly whilst scratching his neck, his own signature purple blush covering his face as he said so. "Whatever, you little elf." I said before pulling him forward to meet his lips in a chaste kiss.
