Branch walked over to Poppy, and Poppy didn't even look up to see him.
Her eyes were blurry and wet, and her face looked like she had just dunked it into a pool.
"Poppy?" Branch asked.
Poppy just shook her head.
"Poppy," he said, and kissed her forehead, "look up at me."
Poppy did as told. She took his hand as he helped her up, and Branch bent down.
Branch took out the box. "Poppy, will you...."
Branch didn't have to continue. Poppy squealed and hugged him. Her colors started to gain back, and on the very last part of her body becoming colorful again, something unexpected happened.
Poppy collapsed onto the floor.
And she didn't look to be breathing.
