As soon as Leon walked into the room, Marley's face lit up- this didn't go unnoticed by the adults in the room. Leon smiled slightly as he embraced her in a hug.
"Hey Leon, what are you doing here?"
"Came to see you of course. I've missed you." He blushed slightly, so did Marley.
"I've missed you too." Marley replied, adding a smile. This was followed by a slightly awkward silence. Leon quickly glanced to Kelly who nodded.
"What are you doing tonight?" He asked. She rolled her eyes.
"Well, I was supposed to be going to Ryan's party tonight but Kelly decided to ground me because of my grades, so I can't go. So I'm here until the end of Kel's shift." Marley stated, her tone hinting anger.
"You weren't really going to Ryan's party were you? You do know what they do at his parties?" Leon scoffed. Marley narrowed her eyes.
"As a matter of fact I was going to go to his party, because Ryan is my boyfriend. He asked me, and I wanted to, and I still do want to." Marley answered abruptly.
"Marls, all that happens at his parties are people getting high and drunk and sleeping with each other. Girls get raped and beaten if they say no. Do you really want to be a part of that?" Leon asked, sounding accusing and judgemental. Marley laughed at him.
"D'ya know what Leon, I don't give a shit. Ryan is my boyfriend, and if he asks me to go to his party I'll go, regardless of what you think will happen." Marley shouted.
"Just like if he asked you to hold his drugs you would? Or if he asked you to sleep with some guy he owes money to you would? I know you Marley, and I know that you're worth so much more than the life you're choosing here with him, you deserve-" Marley cut him off.
"No. Don't you dare, Leon. You're not my dad. You don't get to say what I'm worth or what I deserve because you don't know half of what I've been through. Ryan is my boyfriend, and if you don't like it then you're going to have to deal with it Leon, because I love him." She snapped.
"No, Marley, you don't love him. Or even if you think you do, I can promise you that he doesn't love you." He said softly. Unbeknownst to him, Joe and Kelly had both stood up and were making their way to the pair.
"How fucking dare you? How would you know?! You left their gang. You don't get to say anything about Ryan or his gang anymore!" She screamed at him. Leon didn't flinch.
"Marley, how many times has he cheated on you?" He asked more firmly.
"That has nothing to do with whether he loves me."
"That has everything to do with whether he loves you Marley. Just face it. He's no good for you, he doesn't love you, he never has and he never will." Leon's voice raised slightly and he immediately regretted it. He glanced at Marley and saw a tear drop.
"That doesn't make him any different to anyone else in my life then, does it? Fuck you, Leon." She snarled, wiping her eye as she ran out of the room.
"Marley! Wait!" Leon shouted and went to chase her. Kelly grabbed his arm gently and pulled him back.
"Let her go, she needs to cool off." He said quietly.
"I'm sorry Kelly- I tried. I don't-" Kelly cut him off.
"Don't worry kid, you did good. She just needs to calm down."
