"I just don't understand. They aren't mine. How did they get there?" Otis asked for what seemed like the millionth time when they got back to the apartment that evening.
"Look I know this is frustrating, and we're just as confused as you, but if the drugs aren't yours- which you know we all believe, including chief but there are protocols he has to follow- then it will sort itself out. We'll figure this out." Kelly said frustratedly.
"Yeah we might sort it out, but at the end of day I've as good as lost my job and am now being investigated by the freakin' police!" Otis shouted causing Marley to flinch. She felt so cowardly letting Otis take the fall for the drugs, when she knew they were her boyfriends, but she couldn't hand him in. His gang would kill her. He would kill her. Kelly and Otis both gave her a glance, Otis' was quite sympathetic whereas Kelly's was more of a warning one to keep out. She hung her head lowly and pulled out her phone, contemplating what to tell Ryan.
'chief found the stuff. otis took the wrap. been suspended & being investigated. what do i do ryan?' was what she typed and quickly hit send. He was almost inhumanly quick to respond.
'keep ur fucking mouth shut and let him. this is all ur fault. u should have got the stuff out of the bag when i first asked you to. ur so dead for this Marley.' Her breath caught in her throat and she quickly excused herself.

There was a knock at the door as she tried to leave.
"Can you get that please Marls?" Kelly asked and she nodded and went to the door. There, two men were stood. At first she contemplated slamming the door shut, thinking they were two of Ryan's friends who had come for the drugs, but when they flashed their badges to her, her eyes widened.
"C-can I help you?" She stuttered, terrified that they were there for her.
"Yes, I think so. Is there a Brian Zvonecek home?" She almost let out a sigh of relief but quickly covered it up.
"Yeah, erm, he's through there. Come in."
"Thanks, I'm Detective Antonio Dawson, and this is Detective Jay Halstead." He introduced, and she frowned.
"Dawson? As in Gabby?" He grinned slightly and nodded.
"That's my sister, yeah!"
Despite Marley's earlier eagerness to leave the room, she also didn't want to miss out. It wasn't her being nosy- it was her trying to ensure that they didn't blame Ryan.

After a small and brief conversation, Marley had started to relax. The two detectives went through the formalities and the protocols that were in place until they got to the bottom of it. But the relaxation was short lived.
"Listen Otis, I'm really, unbelievably sorry for what we are about to do. But this is all looking too suspicious. You had over $12,000 worth of cocaine in your bag that you took to your workplace. Brian Zvonecek..." Marley's heart dropped and her eyes widened when she realised what was about to happen.
"...you are under arrest for possession of an illegal substance with intent to supply. You do not have to say anything-"
"STOP!" Marley yelled, causing Kelly to grab hold of her arm and Jay to look over at her concerned.
"Marley, now is not the time for you being childish and stupid. Shut up." Kelly hissed at her and pulled her arm as a way to silence her. Despite the pain she felt in her arm as Kelly grabbed her, she shook her head persistently and turned to face Jay.
"You can't arrest Otis for this." She stuttered. Jay narrowed his eyes at her.
"You better have a darn good reason for this." He tried to sound as less annoyed as he possibly could, but Jay and Antonio were both upset about arresting someone who they considered a friend.
"The drugs aren't his."
"Care to explain how you know this?" Antonio asked, almost sarcastically. Marley swallowed nervously, not being able to mask the shaking in her hands or the fear in her eyes. She didn't know whether to tell the truth and hand Ryan in or take everything back and say she didn't.

"I know the drugs aren't his, because, because the drugs are mine."
