We walked for a bit before stopping for the night. I protested that we could keep walking. But Alex said that my wound was "too deep" for me to go on.
I sucks. Hiding my m
identity sucks. Just imagine it. Living your who life behind a door and if that door opens, you're dead. Dead.
"Frost?" Alex said with a worried tone. "Is everything alright? You seem less focused than you were when we left the house."
"Y-yea," I stuttered. What the hell is wrong with me?!
"No, you're not," he said this in a stern tone. Completely different from the usual happy go luck one. It caught be by surprise.
"Yes, I am," I said this in the same time he was using. Except, I gave him that if-you ask-me-again-I'll-rip-if-your-face look.
He shot me the same look. I swear this guy acted like a child at times.
"No, you're not! Tell! Now!"
Yup, I was officially talking to a three year old now. I looked up at the sky. Maybe I could change the subject with something up there. Ah-ha! I thought. "It's getting dark. We should get some sleep." I dumped water over our fire. I am not attracting wolves this far into the woods. That would be the death us.
Alex looked up to the stars as well. "Oh wow. It is getting rather dark." Could his attention sown be any shorter?
I rolled up into the cloth I packed as a blanket. Maybe if I fake it long enough, he'll go to- my thoughts were cut off by soft snoring.
Despite being an owl, Zeera' sleep schedule was much more like a human. She was perched up on a branch as I snuck out of the now demolished campsite.
I looked back at them for a second. Alex was deeply asleep. He kept trying to roll onto the side of his wound. His body wouldn't let him though. He turned back over and found his way into a more comfortable position. Zeera was...purring? Can owls even do this? I should probably take her to a vet after the king is dead.
I sighed and walked throughout the woods. I stayed fairly close to the campsite. Careful not to make to big of a noise the whole time. I guess that didn't work though. As somebody grabbed my shoulder and covered my mouth.
