Why are you here?

The hand clamped down on my hurt shoulder. I screamed in pain.
"Shit! Sorry," said a familiar voice.
I turned to face it. "Alex?! Why the hell are you here?!" I ended up whisper yelling. Not only did I not want to wake Zeera up. But, I didn't want to attract unwanted attention either. God only knows what's out here.
Alex shrugged. "Insomnia. Why are you out here?"
"Thinking. Go back to camp and sleep. I don't want to come back to discover we had been robbed."
"Relax," he said. "Nobody ever comes this far out into the wood."
I cleared my throat and pointed at the two of us.
"Well, other than you and me of course," he corrected himself. "Frost?" He asked. I knew he was going to change the subject.
"What?" I sighed in annoyance.
"Before the siren showed up. We were having a conversation. I asked the question, 'what are you?' Would you mind answering that?"
"It's none of your business. I'm simply here to kill your brother. Not form a bond. Understand?" I said this harshly.
"Frost," he said in a light tone. "You can't live in those woods forever. Archie can't be your only friend. You need to change something because that isn't how one should live."
Oh if only you knew. I looked up at the sky again. It saved me from letting out my secret yet again. "It's almost sun rise. We should get back to the camp before Zeera starts looking for us."
"No, she can wait. I need to know this, Frost." His features tenses up. He was either worried or pissed. Maybe both.
"She can't she'll start looking about two minutes after she wakes up." This was clearly a lie. Zeera didn't care where I was. She probably wouldn't even look. She'd just fly off and leave us to die on the woods. Some familiar I have.
Before Alex could say a word, I was walking back the way I came at a brisk pace. The last thing I want to do is tell him what I am.
