Chapter 1: The Kids

Chapter 1

(Katniss's POV)

I watch as my 3 children run into the meadow, giggling and laughing. They all are so close and they have a code. Me and Peeta don't know what it is but we know they have one.

In order of age, there is Rue, Rory, and Anna. They are 2 years apart, so if Rue is 9 then Rory is 7 and Anna is 5. I know I said that I didn't want kids but Peeta wanted them so bad. After years of saying 'no' I finally said 'yes'.

Rue is my first born. She can hunt, use weapons, and can tell if something is poisonous. If she was in the Hunger Games, I know she would win. With her agility and charisma, I would have no doubt. Her hair is curly with a combination of blonde and brown. She also has blue eyes like Peeta's.

Rory is my second born. He can hunt a little and is very adventurous. He knows how to bake bread but that's it. I don't think he would lose, but I don't know. If me and Peeta could, I would have faith in Rory. He has curly blonde hair like Peeta and grey eyes like mine.

And my last child is Anna. Oh sweet baby Anna. She can paint and bake like Peeta. Her hair is all brown like mine and baby blue eyes. She is loving but she can't protect herself. Anna is like a puppy or like my sister Primrose. She can't hunt like Rue or Rory but she does have something they both don't have...baking skills.

I look up to Peeta and he smiles at me. Our fingers are wrap around each others hand. He kisses my forehead and says "I love you." I kiss his cheek and said "I love you too." We look up and see that the clouds are getting darker. "Come on kids, it's going to rain." Peeta says.

They give out a sad 'awwwww' and we all start walking home. We still live in District 12 after the rebellion. Me and Peeta talk about District 13 once in a while. We can't talk about it to much because Peeta could go into mutt mode.

But, luckily that hasn't happened in years. He has been practicing to control it after I became pregnant with Rue. Although sometimes he freezes in thoughts but he calms down after awhile. We don't want to show kids the 'mutt mode' side of him. They will freak out and be scared every time they're around him.

When we arrive home the kids run inside but then they stopped in their tracks from the sight of a man sitting on our couch. I'm shocked at who I see as he walks towards me. His raven colored hair, dark brown eyes, and olive like skin. He smiles at me then says "Hey Catnip."
