Chapter 5: The First Encounter

Chapter 5

(Rory's POV) 5 years later

I wake up one morning to a sunny day outside. I get up, brush my teeth and got dress. Then the smell of bacon and eggs fills the air. I race down stairs to find a 14 year old Rue and a 10 year old Anna.

We all are more closer than we were 5 years ago. But things have changed. Rue is more independent and responsible. And Anna.....she hasn't changed a bit.

"Good morning Rory." Mom tells me. "Good morning" I said back. "Rory, can you stop by the hob and get some flour for bread?" Dad asks me.

"Sure" I tell him. I eat my breakfast and I start walking towards the hob. I don't really like going to the hob. It smells weird and people keep staring at me. Sometimes they take pictures. I never really understood why? It was just kinda normal.

Finally I get out of the hob and I start walking back home. Half way towards my house a hovercraft comes. I start running away but I was to late, the claw picked me up and took me away. When I'm in the hovercraft, I'm injected by a tranquilizer and I black out.

When I wake up, I'm tied to 2 ropes on both my wrists. I look down and I'm shirtless. I'm in a dark room with no windows and tile floor. I look up, there is 1 light bulb above my head. Where am I? The last thing I remember is being in a hovercraft.

Just as I'm thinking about it, peacekeepers burst through the door. There were 3 of them. I look at what they have in their hands and I see.....whips.

"Where am I?" I ask one of the peacekeepers. The peacekeeper punches me in the face. It hurt really bad, I can feel the blood rolling down my face. I look back at the peacekeeper. "We ask the questions. Got it?" he asks me. I didn't answer him. He whips me across the chest. I scream. "GOT IT?" he yells. "Got it" I say in pain.

They all start whipping me everywhere. Back, chest, arms, and legs. I'm tied tightly so I can't fight back. The only thing I could do is either scream or cry. They would just laugh at my pain. Moments of torture later, I black out.

(Peeta's POV)

It has been 7 hours since Rory left the house. We are all starting to get worried, even Haymitch. I had never seen Haymitch so worried before. Not even when me Katniss entered the Hunger Games.

"We need to find Rory, so let's split up in groups okay?" Rue asks. Everybody nods in agreement. Haymitch then speaks up "Okay so, Rue, Anna, you 2 go check in the hob and the Justice Building. Ask people if they've seen him." Anna and Rue both nod.

"I will go to people's houses and ask if they've seen him." Haymitch says. "Katniss, Peeta" we both look at him. "you 2 go search in the woods and the seam." he says. We nod. "Okay. Let's go, meet back at 11:00." Katniss says. I look at the clock and it reads 8:47. We all split up and start searching.

Katniss and I go in the woods first. "What if we don't find him?" Katniss asks me. I give her a hug and said "Don't say that Katniss. We are going to find Rory." I tell her. I give her a kiss and she smiles. "Okay" Katniss says.

We hear a sound. But this noise sounds familiar. It almost sounds like..........a hovercraft. Me and Katniss look up and just as we expect, a hovercraft flies above us.

A door opens and a claw comes out. It looks like it's carrying something. When the claw is closer to the ground it drops something then flies away. Me and Katniss start running towards the object.

When we see the object, it is our son Rory. He is covered in blood, bruises, and cuts. I look at Katniss and she is crying. Moments later I do. "The cuts doesn't look contagious but he does need medical help." Katniss says.

I pick Rory up and we start running towards the house. Luckily we made it on time to save him.
