Chapter 8
(Rue's POV)
Me and Rory wake up to the sound of mom and dad yelling our names. "RUE! RORY!" they yell. I look at them and they give me a hug. I wince when they do. Moments later, Rory wakes up too. I look around the house and it's ruined. Walls are broken down and the table is in pieces.
"What happened?" dad asks. I couldn't remember them that's when I see the primrose petals on the ground. "There was a primrose flower delivered to me. And when I touched one of the petals, it blew up in our faces." I tell them. Mom and dad look at each other. Probably because I said primrose.
Primrose was mom's sister, but she died and mom always cry at her name. "Where's Anna?" Rory asks. I look around and I don't see her anywhere. We search the house and not a single sign of Anna. "She got taken. Katniss get Haymitch." Dad says. Mom nods and went to Haymitch's.
When mom comes back with Haymitch, Rory and I told him everything. We start discussing the plan to get Anna back, I then feel a rush of rage racing through my veins. Then I feel a sharp pain in my head. I felt this pain last week. At first I ignore it, then it comes back harder.
I get out of my chair and started sliding down the wall. Everyone is staring at me. Mom and Dad tried to comfort me but Haymitch pulls them back. I start screaming in pain. I feel like Haymitch is hiding something from my parents, if he wasn't then why isn't he letting them help me.
The pain goes away. I don't know what happened, but I'm going to need some answers. I look up at everyone and their eyes widen. Dad's eyes widen the most. "Rue, your eyes are dark blue." Rory tells me. I look in the mirror and my eyes look like the color of dad's eyes when he attacked Gale. Dark blue.
Haymitch grabs me and pulls me outside. I fall to the dirt. Then my parents come and sat down in front of me. "Rue, it's okay. Focus." Dad tells me. "Rue, listen to us." Mom says. I look at them, I breath heavily. I want to cry because of the pain.
"Why did that happen?" I ask them. They shrug. "I can answer that." Haymitch says. I nod. "Well when Katniss got pregnant with Rue, I looked at the test results. Then the doctor told me 'Peeta and Katniss's child is going to turn into a mutt some point in their life time.' So I'm guessing your starting now." Haymitch tells us.
That means I, Rue Mellark, is.....a mutt.
