I wake up a few hours later. My body is still shaking, my nerves are shot, and my head is pounding.
He's alive.
My mother lied. She said he shot himself. Where has he been this whole time? Why hasn't he come for me before now?
"ARIELLE!" Ryan screams in my face.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" I glare at him like he's psychotic.
He sighs. "I've been asking if you were okay for the past five minutes and you haven't answered."
"Oh," I frown. "I'm fine."
"What happened? I caught you before you could hit y-"
I cut him off. "I'm fine! I didn't hit my head or anything. Look!"
I spin around to show him I'm fine.
"Okay, I was making sure." He frowns and looks at his feet.
"Hey," I hug him. "I'm sorry for yelling. I just got a little scared."
He kisses my forehead. "It's okay. Who was on the phone? You said they were supposed to be dead?"
"They had the wrong number. I was trying to freak them out." I fake a laugh.
"They asked for you specifically." He gives me a serious look.
I shrug. "I guess someone else has the name Elle."
Thankfully he drops it.
Everyone leaves and I lay Emma down for bed. Every night I read her a story and kiss her goodnight.
I get in the shower and try to relax.
That lasts for about 10 seconds before my eyes pour tears. I sink to my knees and sob until I can't anymore.
Two months ago my life was great. I was going to college. I had the best boyfriend ever. I was so happy. I had never been so happy before.
In one day all of that was yanked away from me.
My reasons to keep living are slipping away more and more each day.
I get up and go straight to the hospital.
The doctor tells me he hasn't changed. Not even a little.
I sit next to him reading, talking, and even singing to him.
I feel so useless. I don't understand why he can't just wake up. It's killing me to see him like this.
After a while I head home.
I cook spaghetti for Emma, since it's her favorite. Chelsea should be dropping her off right about now.
The doorbell rings and I turn the stove off.
Why would Chelsea ring the doorbell?
I open the door and my stomach drops.
Before I can think, I run.
"Get back here you little bitch!" David screams running after me.
Too worried about getting away from him, I run straight into the coffee table and the glass shatters underneath me.
My body burns with cuts and David yanks me off the floor by my hair.
I scream as loud as I can and he covers my mouth with his disgusting hands.
He drags me out the door and throws me into a creepy serial killer looking van.
I guess that fits him.
What the hell is wrong with me? I'm being kidnapped and all I can think of are insults?
The van starts moving and David gives me an evil look.
"I'm going to enjoy our time together." He laughs. "While it lasts anyways."
