Cameron helped me move Elisa's battered body into the house, setting her on the carpeted ground as Cameron went to the bathroom to grab a first aid kit. I brushed the blood stained hair out of her face, making sure not to to touch the bruise that was forming on her eye. So many questions & assumptions were running through my mind that I never heard Cameron come back. I flinched my hand back & brought it to my lap, but I know Cameron already saw what she saw.

"You said it wasn't anything serious, Ethan."

"It isn't."

"Well I'm gonna have to call bullshit." My back was still facing her when I heard her breath hitch.

"Oh my god, you love her." She said in a whispered tone. My head whipped back towards Cameron, her eyes filled with shock.

"No, I don't."

"Now you're just lying to yourself E. You'll hurt her." Anger pulsed through my veins as I lunged to my feet & stood in front of Cameron.

"How can I hurt her when she's already hurt! Look at her, it looks like she got jumped!" Cameron's eyes calmed, only making me more irritated.

"Exactly. You're doing more damage to her than you are helping."
