Keep On Keeping On

Some time ago he knew someone

But now that she’s long gone

He’s got nothing to live for

But to keep on keeping on

He wakes up in the morning, He starts about his day

He climbs into the shower to wash his cares away

He doesn’t sing, he doesn’t speak, he doesn’t make a sound

His hands are in his pockets, His feet are on the ground

Some time ago he knew someone

But now that she’s long gone

He’s got nothing to live for

But to keep on keeping on

He’s walking through the forest, he walks beside the sea

He walks for it’s the only thing that lets him know he’s free

He walks for keeping occupied keeps memories at bay

And so he walks by day or night, through vibrant skies or day

Some time ago he knew someone

But now that she’s long gone

He’s got nothing to live for

But to keep on keeping on

He walks as far as he can go, his face set in a frown

He walks along the endless road that’s winding ever down

His footsteps make so little sound, they tread upon the stone

He gets a funny feeling that he’s never going home

Some time ago he knew someone

But now that she’s long gone

He’s got nothing to live for

But to keep on keeping on

He goes into the city, goes into a café

Is greeted by a waitress, she smiles and she says hey

He doesn’t hear what else she says, and doesn’t think he can

But looking in her eyes he knows that someone understands

Some time ago he knew someone

But now that she’s long gone

He’s found something to live for

So he keeps on keeping on
