Looking North

What will I become?

I'm still only a child in the eyes of the world

But years go by so fast

And maturity only comes with experience

The simple years are almost gone

And eight and ten are almost come

And soon I'll walk the dim-lit halls

The ancient halls with ivy walls

And kiss my youth goodbye

The newborn eagle learns to fly

Could break a wing, could even die

The diver stands upon the ledge

And molten iron takes an edge

And maturity only comes with experience

But if life is for the living

And sights are to be seen

Then why do secrets bring us power

While sacred truth has never been

It makes no sense to me...

A fingerprint or a snowflake

A million leaves beneath a rake

Is unique really so unique

When everyone is so?

I just don't know...

Wouldn't it be simpler then

If we could all just start again?

To hunt and fish and farm and eat

And finally live like men?

We'd dance and sing and live in peace

Away from all the rest

And praise our God by living life

Where each day is the best

But after all this talk of life

I'm still only a child

Standing at the door, looking north
