Chapter 13

POV Madison

I woke up all sweaty and panting. I looked at Brookes bunk and saw that she also was awake. "Nightmare?" she asked. I nodded silently and put a hand through my hair. "Which one did you have?" I asked Brooke as if it was the most normal case in the universe. "I saw my mum..." her voice broke. "You?" "The day at the store... It keeps coming back" I said while sitting cross-legged. "You are really fucked up by that huh?" Brooke said a bit grinning. "Yhea I would rather fight dozens of cranks than 5 filthy men." I said scoffing. "Yheaaa I understand haha." We smiled. "Do you always have night time conversations?" I yelped from the unexpected sound. "Jeez Hugo you scared us!" Brooke silently yelled while she threw a shoe at Hugo's face. "You know nighttime is for sleeping." Cain said. Brooke and I looked at each other. "Guys let the girls have their talk!" Sam joked. Bye privacy. "Sorry for waking you up, I don't think we've had one single night without waking up." Brooke said feeling a bit guilty. "Mad, time?" I got my phone from under my pillow. "Euhhh 5.30" I said while scrolling through my Facebook feed. Not that there was anything on it. But it was nice to see how the world was before all of this. "Where did you get that phone? And how is it still working?" Cain asked amazed. "My old phone from when the world wasn't fucked up, and I have a solar charger soooo yhea, it works." I said happily. I wasn't going back to sleep, I don't like sleeping... Not anymore. I got up and maneuvered through the dark to find my clothes, put 'em on and searched for my shoes. "Mad what you up to?" Brooke asked. "Going out with Atlas, don't worry I'll be right back." I said reassuring. She mumbled something and I took my phone and katana and silently left the dorm. Within a few minutes I was outside. The dew of this morning was slowly fading. I breathed in the fresh air. "C'mon Attie!" I was so happy to be outside again. I went for a run, while running I spotted 2 cranks. Mhhm, morning workout. I took out my katana and whistled, the cranks heads snapped my way and they ran towards me. I ducked and cut one in half, I quickly turned around and beheaded the other. Atlas was patiently waiting. I breathed out. "You done?" I turned around. "How did you know where I ran?" I asked while putting my katana back. "We have guards on the roof, they saw you running and called me." I nodded. "Seems legit. I'm hungry, let's go back." We walked back in silence, after a while I reached the lobby and sat down with the rest. "Got in trouble? We saw Diaz running after you." Cain said smirking. "No I just went for a run and killed two cranks." I said smiling. "I'm hungry, should I get you guys some plates?" I asked while standing up. "Yhea thanks." They responded. I walked to Ted. "Good morning Madison! Did you have a nice walk?" "How do you know that?" "Everyone is watching you two, how can we not?" he said smiling while giving me 5 plates. "Can you carry them all?" he asked while giving me the last one. "Yhea, I worked as a waitress before all this!" I said reassuring. I walked back with the plates and put them down one by one. "While you're at it fetch me some water servant!" Brooke joked. "OY how bout ye get yer damn water yerself mate!" I said with a Scottish accent. We laughed and the boys looked at us weirdly. "Inside joke." Brooke answered while she cut her sandwich in half. When it was 6 o'clock we walked to the gym. Diaz was already standing at the normal meeting spot. "Alright everyone gather around!" he yelled through the hall. "Okay, you're going to practice today, firstly you'll just practice with the people from your own sqaud and after we'll rotate the whole group." Daiz said. I saw some boys whispering, pointing and smirking. I rolled my eyes and Brooke had an expression on her face that was screaming 'I'm thinking about 7 different ways of killing you'. We wished each other good luck and walked to our opponents. For now, I would just have to fight Cain and Brooke would have to fight Hugo. Sam was training together with Diaz. "Ready to go a few rounds sweety?" Cain taunted me. "Are you?" I said winking while putting of my hoodie. We got in the right positions and Daiz gave everyone the signal to begin. Cain stepped forward and I gave him a hard pound in the throat. He fell down to the ground while gasping for air. "It wasn't that hard..." I mumbled while giving him a hand. "1-0" I said a bit arrogant. We got back in position and this time I stepped in for an attack. He took my arms and turned me around so he was kinda hugging me... "So I guess I win this round." He whispered in my ear. "Huh, you wish!" I stepped on his toe, ducked to the ground and went for the legs. He fell I rolled over, wrapped my legs around his arm and pulled. Brooke taught me this one. I stopped and got up. "2-0... Not your day Cainy?" I joked. I wasn't paying attention and he took the opportunity. He tackled me to the ground, held my arms above my head and made sure I couldn't get away. He smirked. "Cain, get your ass off of me!" I said groaning. This dude was heavy. "I dunno, what are you gonne give me for it?" he said while coming closer to my face. His weight got off of my legs. "I might not kick your ass for a third time!" I said irritated. "Hmmmh. Not good enough." I laughed. My legs are free! Free willy! I folded my legs under his chest and kicked him off, yhea my legs probably had the most strength. He rolled over and quickly got op. I rolled backwards, sitting on one knee and looked up. He was already going for round 3. I jumped up, turned around in the air and high kicked him in the face. This time he stayed down. "I warned ya." I said happily. I offered my hand to pull him up and he thankfully took it. I looked at Brooke. Hugo didn't stand a chance. She had already taken him down 2 times. They were both panting, Hugo took a misstep and Brooke tackled him to the ground. He tapped and Brooke won. She walked my way. "C'mon this is not a challenge!" she joked. "Brooke, really shut up I was going easy on you!" Hugo said while drinking some water. "Okay everyone we're going to rotate the group!" After a few minutes everyone was assigned to a mat. Brookes opponent was Danny, he was nice. Brooke looked at me and nodded, she than looked behind me and she laughed. I turned around. Goddammit! The boy from yesterday who I wanted to tackle was my opponent. "Everyone in 20 seconds you may begin!" Diaz shouted. "I want real training, fighting a girl isn't even difficult." He shouted through the hall. He was making a scene. "Is there a problem, Richard?" Diaz interfered. "Sir, I want real training, fighting a weak girl is not something I like to do in my spare time." He scoffed. Brooke walked up to me and held my arm. "Is he offending me? Are you talking to me?! OHhhh boy, you are going down you loggerheaded onion-eyed fat-kidneyed bastard!" I shouted and wanted to launch myself at him. I felt 2 stronger arms holding me back. "She's obviously no worthy adversary for me." He yet again insulted me. "Come here then ye mewling idle-headed wanker!" Cain was holding me back while Brooke was just laughing on the ground. "Richard, you are going to train with her." Diaz said and gave everyone the sign to begin and ordered Cain to let me go. The moment he let go I launched myself at the boy I punched him full force in the face. I took a few steps back, might have broken his nose. "Bitch!" he came at me and started to launch a tsunami on punches my way, I had calmed myself and simply dodged them. I pounded him in the throat on the right moment and he went down. I looked up at Diaz and he nodded approvingly. I offered my hand to get him up. He took my hand, pulled me down rolled on top of me and started beating my face. One punch and the Daiz had already pulled him off. "Richard leave the room, and report yourself to the general! Everyone you're all done for today!" Diaz yelled. Cain helped me up. I moved my jaw a few times. "I don't think it's very bad..." Cain said while inspecting, and slightly touching my jaw. "I'm gonne kill him, what a dick move! Fucking idiot!" Brooke yelled while walking my way. "Get in the queue!" Hugo scoffed. We all laughed. Diaz walked up to us. "Guys I need I word with all of you."
