POV Madison
It was 4 PM when we finally arrived back at the base. I was drained. When the helicopter landed the general immediately came walking towards us. But it wasn't a warm welcome. He didn't even look at us, he turned towards the civilians and led them away. The doctors were immediately taken to ICU, because we had some good people there who needed help. I jumped out of the helicopter, followed by a worn-out Atlas and I walked towards the doors that led to the bedrooms. Atlas just went straight for his den. I put off the backpack, and all the things I didn't need, dumped them there and walked back towards the helicopter. I saw how our medics carried Brad away on a stretcher, he was groaning in agony. I looked down to the ground and moved on. Some of the remaining boys had already gone inside or went to their rooms. My mood was getting worse by the minute. I took some stuff out of the helicopter and carried it towards the building. I was working silently, putting the bags and boxes with medical supplies at the doorstep. Guards who were awake carried the supplies into the building. "Cain!" the general called. Cain looked at me, put down his box, walked towards the general and saluted. "How did your mission go?" I heard the general ask him. I walked away because I didn't need to hear how horrific this mission had ended. I took another box and right when I lifted it up, the bottom of the box broke and all the stuff fell on the ground. "Great." I angrily huffed. "Here, I have another one for you if you'd like?" I looked up and saw one of the men we rescued earlier today. "Thanks." I gave him a quick smile and loaded the supplies into the box. He picked up a few of the bottles and cans and helped me. "So, not much girls around here huh." He said friendly. I glanced at him. "Isn't it a bit intimidating?" he looked at me with this concerned look, almost fatherly. "It's something you get used to." I said shortly. I got up and walked towards the entrance again, with the man on my tail. "You didn't want to go to the civilian camp? You would be safer there." I gave the box to a guard and walked back. "I don't like to sit on my ass and watch others do all the work for me." I said it loudly, hoping that the boys who left us to do all the work would hear it. But I know they wouldn't. I walked back once again. "I'm John." He said with a broad smile while holding out his hand. I took his hand. "Madison." He smiled and walked back with me. "You took all this stuff from the building? I didn't even know this was all in there." He picked up a box when suddenly the co-pilot gurgled and took a hold of John's leg. "Crank!" he yelped. I kicked against its head and pulled John away from the helicopter. The crank quickly ran after us, it was a fast one. I reached for my katana. Nothing. Because I left it at the doorstep. Shit. "John, run to the door!" I ran for the box and took a jar of glass. I smashed it against the ground so it broke, I ignored the pain in my hand and went for a rebound. The crank came at me and with I swift stroke I drilled the shard into its skull. By the time that the guards, Cain or the general had heard it, the body had already dropped to the ground. Some boys also came running towards the helicopter, and were now watching. "What happened!?" the general yelled angrily. "The co-pilot is dead." I said grim. "What do you mean he is dead?!" he took a step closer. I picked up my stuff and looked him dead in the eye. "The spark of his life has been smothered in shite. His spirit is gone but his stench remains. Does that answer your question?" The boys all burst out in laughter, while Cain smirked at me. I rolled my eyes and walked towards our bedroom. I silently opened the door and searched through the darkness for my PJ's and went looking for the bathroom door. "You scared in the dark?" "JEZUS! Cain! You almost gave me a heart attack!" I slapped him in the face and took walked to the bathroom. "It's better if we shower together, you know, save water and it's warmer that way." He took a step closer. "Maybe later." I simply said as I got in and locked the door. I really was not in the mood for boyish childishness. It was almost 6 PM when I was finally in bed.
"Mad!" I opened my eyes and saw Cain looking. "Whu, what, who's dead?" I blinked a few times and got up. "Uh, no one... It's time to get up tho." He said while walking towards his bed. I looked at my phone. It was 10 AM. "They let us sleep in?" "Yhea, because of the heavy missions. The others are already in the lobby." He took off his shirt and searched for another one. I was staring at his muscular body, I mean how does it even get so freaking gorgeous? "Like what you see?" Cain smirked while putting on a black t-shirt. I scoffed. "That was so cliché." I stood up and searched for mu hoodie. "Well, what can I say, I like it when things go easy." I rolled my eyes. I bowed down to look under the bed when Cain slapped my ass. "Cain! What the hell!" I wanted to slap him in the face but he got a hold of my wrist. "You gonne slap me again?" "Well you did it first didn't ya!?" He laughed while letting go of my wrist. I got my hoodie, but on some sneakers and walked out of the door. "You still love me." Cain suddenly appeared next to me. "No I don't." "Yes, you do." "NO, I don't." "Yhea, you do." "I don't!" "You don't have to raise your voice." I let out an irritated growl. Once again, he smirked. I walked towards Hugo, Brooke and Sam who were sitting at our table. I plumped down next to Brooke and looked at the group. While I was tired as fuck, dying of all the aches in my body and still madly irritated about yesterday, everyone seemed in a happy mood. Which was good, because maybe I could just roll with them in their happy-hours. "Soo, you are still alive...ish.." Sam said while looking at me. "Well the only thing that can cure a bad-tempered Madison is food, I'll get you some." Cain said with a wink. Brooke raised a brow and elbowed me in the ribs. I looked at her with the slowest expression ever. "WHaaat?!" "Since when, did this..." she pointed from Cain to me, and back to Cain. "become a thing?" she said while wiggling her eyebrows. I yawned. " "I dunno, the same time you and Hugo became a thing?" Brooke and I looked at each other and burst out in laughter. Hugo just looked at us weirdly and Sam was in his own dreamworld for a moment. "Here you go, M'lady has her breakfast." Cain put down a plate with food and I eagerly attacked it. "You know what would be sooooo awesome!" Sam suddenly screeched out. "Whaaaat?" Brooke said evenly enthusiastic. "If you and Hugo and Madison and Cain would become a thing!" he, almost, screamed. Food was thrown and people were mocked. Eventually Diaz joined us and some other boys we liked accompanied our ridiculous conversations.
